Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Just separated is not too bad. I heard maybe dislocation which may be worse, I am not a doctor though.

The trainer and doctor that saw him the locker room immediately after the injury believed it to be a complete dislocation, but the extent of damage will not be known until today when he sees a specialist. If it is just a dislocation, it will be a couple of weeks. If he tore the labrium (either front or back) in addition to the dislocation, then it will be longer and may require surgery after the season.

Yale Athletics officially sanctioned replica hockey jerseys, add the code 2010yale to knock the price down to 69.99, look like nice jerseys. you get to pick the number and name as well. Other stuff also available at the same site.

That's pretty awesome that you can get it and customize it for such a low price. Do they put any restrictions for current players given NCAA merchandise rules? If not, I better see every Yalie with customized jerseys on Saturday.

Vio's Sports in West Haven, CT is producing excellent vintage replicas of New Haven Blades sweaters, even has the neck laces and real embroidered patches. In store only type of place, gonna order one next week.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Will Cahill miss the next game due to his game misconduct against Brown? He wasn't really missed but with the injuries Yale could use the depth.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Nice touch by Yale & Quinnipiac combining to host Mandi's March a 7.5 Run•Jog•Walk•Ride on the just completed 7.5 mile linear trail connecting the QU & Yale Rinks on Saturday (11/6). Fund will benefit Mandi Schwartz and a check will be presented by the Yale and QU Alumni offices during the QU at Yale Men's Game Saturday Night.

Thank You Comments from the Schwartz Family:

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Cahill played Saturday night, so I assume there was no one game suspension for him. I havent heard anything about Mason being injured, heard he practiced all week. Doesnt look like Gus Young is to injured, questionable for this weekend, and his quote says "nothing too serious".

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I just saw Mason skate off and head to the locker room late in the game Saturday, but the reports say everyone but Young is healthy.

It's also been reported that Rondeau will start in goal tonight.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Great start to the season for Yale (now 3-0)

First real test to come tomorrow when we play a Q squad that has quite a few more games under their belts this season than do we.

Gotta love this growing New Haven rivalry.

See you all at the Whale tomorrow.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I thought the last 10 minutes against Princeton - most of it 2 men down - was a pretty good test! Rondeau and the rest of the kill team did a great job.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

We're doing a-ok out there, boys.

Above all else, I love this team's tenacity. Man are we hungry on every shift.

We had our first dud of a period (1st period tonight vs. Q), but we recovered nicely and played Allain hockey--uptempo, hard to the puck, and crashing the net.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

CC just had their best game of the season tonight, beating Denver 9-2, and really skating circles around them on the Olympic sized ice we have at CC. I absolutely cannot wait to see Yale here next weekend, as Yale has so much speed and is a real powerhouse. I think we could be in for one hell of an entertaining hockey game between two teams who can seriously move up and down the ice. I don't think CC has the firepower to beat Yale on most nights, but on any given night, one never knows.

I'm curious as to what your observations are at this early point in the season. Do you feel that Yale is as good as they were last year, or better? And the one real weakness I thought Yale had in the times I saw them last year was inconsistent goaltending. Do Yale fans believe that has been solved, or is it still a potential issue?

Better without doubt. We lost Backman, Arcobello, and Donald but new additions and another year of experience for the rest of the boys appears to outweigh those losses by a lot. This team is so fast and skilled on offense that it is a true pleasure to watch.

Certainly a potential issue, but Rondeau has looked very good the last 3 games. As a senior now I think we are all hoping for a repeat of what Alec Richards gave us two years ago.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Hopefully coach sticks with Rondeau for awhile. See if he can find some magic. I could see him having 2 bad periods getting pulled and than not seeing the ice for 2 months.
I also hope Gus Young comes back soon, looked good in the small sample I saw, and the defense needs alot of help.

Agreed. Our defense is a little undersized and we can get muscled along the boards down low. That would be another weakness on our team. However, we skate so **** well that a forward can usually swoop in and get the puck out for instant offense.

Undersized, yes (though Young is clearly a sign of some size to come...) Peel is such an anomaly in D1 defense - small, but so fast, great shot, tremendously able player.

Our defense definitely scares me sometimes, but once we get Young back we should be fine. They are certainly talented enough, it's just a matter of not getting pushed around in our own zone. I hope we do not see Maricic or Malcolm until Rondeau does anything to lose the job.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Peel is more of an offensive defensemen, he needs to stop trying to skate through all 5 opposing players, and keep his head up.
I think the power play needs some work too, doesnt seem like anything is happening out there. Just passes bewteen the point and half boards. But that is definatly nick picking!
What does everybody think of the freshman fowards? I didnt think Root was going to see the ice again last night after the retaliation penalty that cost us a power play.

Agostino was playing well on the 2d PP team.
