Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

They sat for the Russian Exhibition game, trying to avoid injury to the top players. Yale did look good today, Agostino is really developing into a good player, Miller, Kearney and Little"hat trick" were also stellar. Only beef is with Rondeau on the second HC goal, it was a wraparound that he for some reason did not even attempt to play, missed the scorer completely.

That's what I thought. I bet that was great for team unity!

Yale Bulldogs writeup has Agostino with a hat trick along with Little. Strange. I thought our guys were showing the signs of a couple weeks off by the end of the third, but they looked great nonetheless. Besides Broc scoring while being pulled down from behind (you've got to love getting a goal and a power play at the same time), one of my favorite moments was Rondeau's glove save on a mini HC breakaway in the 2d - wasn't a particularly tough save, but RR knew exactly where the puck was going, and his gesture had a "Can't you dish out something harder than that?" quality.

Yale-4 Josh Balch (Kenny Agostino, Jesse Root) GWG 14:57
Yale-5 Broc Little (Jimmy Martin, Ryan Rondeau) 17:50

Second Period
Yale-6 Kenny Agostino (Jimmy Martin, Josh Balch) 2:57
Yale-7 Andrew Miller (Brian O'Neill) PPG 16:28

But a fun game nonetheless. And amazing news about Anderson!

Perhaps one of the goals in the 1st where Agostino has the primary assist was because the person credited with the goal tipped it in and it wasn't changed until after the fact.

That'd have to be the case. And it'd have to be the O'Neill goal--I remember thinking it definitely deflected off someone in front of the net.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

While the score last night was gratifying, I was a little concerned that we came out a bit flat in the sceond period and part of the third. I guess you can only keep the intensity going at the kind of levels we showed at the beginning for so long. The guys looked very good, though, and I thought our second goal was the best one of the night.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the "EZAC" seems to be defeating a lot of ranked teams from other conferences nowadays (Brown 6-1 over #10 BU, Quinnipiac sweeping #8 Nebraska-Omaha, Union knocking off #2 New Hampshire)? I am sure our friends from the West will say it is just luck.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

They can say whatever they want. The ECAC is a great conference to follow.

On another note, I just spoke with Anna Liffey's and they will host a Yale v Harvard watching party on Saturday. So if you can't make it to Boston, stop by Liffey's.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Some highlights from the Russian game, we need to get this guy a better producer, change up his videos a bit, they all look the same.

Thanks for setting that up, i am thinking going up to Dartmouth Friday.

I am going to the Dartmouth game Friday - got seats a few rows behind the Yale bench. Am wondering whether I'll get mugged if I wear my blue and white?????

Looking forward to the USA-Canada game tonight!

Eli........ to answer you question, and at the risk of "talking my book", please see my thread, started 1/1/11, "Not so ez". Take a XANAX first.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Cool, two hat tricks, you don't see that very often. BTW Miller was absolutely on top of his game, he put on a stick handling clinic at a few points during the game, the Kearney goal to open the scoring froze everyone but the guy selling ice cream.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Just wanted to say the the two YDN Reporters and I (a Yale junior and avid hockey fan) will be heading to both the Dartmouth and Harvard games this weekend. I will definitely be wearing the blue and white jersey and cheering on the team. I can also say that the campus is very excited about the second half of the season.

Glad to hear about Anderson--his line with Brockett and Mason can both score goals and rough up the opponents. It was also great to see Dan Otto get into his first ever game against the Russians. Hopefully we'll get to see more of him in the coming months.

On another note, a group of students and I are scheduled to pick against the USCHO ECAC writer next week. Wish us luck!

Good luck! Are you going to do your pick by video like the 4 guys in the studio apartment? See you in Hanover - I'll be one of the other lone souls wearing blue and white and cheering on the Bulldogs. Is the YPMB coming up?

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Weather may be an issue for traveling, be careful guys. I will be there with my daughter.
