Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

A LITTLE HOBEY?

as I write this Broc Little is averaging 1.77 points per game with 12 goals and 11 assists in 13 games, playing on the #1 team in the country.

while still probably a long shot for Little to win Hobey, IF he were to somehow average a goal a game over the entire season and Yale keeps winning, it would seem a Hobey might be a distinct possibility.

How many college hockey players have averaged a goal a game for a season over the past decade?

In Division I, none. At least none who have played any appreciable number of games in the season.

Ryan Carter at Iona in 1998-99 was the last, with 33 goals in 33 gp.

For those traveling from New Haven to Hanover here are the forecasts for both towns, looks like there will be snow in some form or another all along the way. I plan to stay the night in Brattleboro after the game.

Hanover, NH
Friday: A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 26. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Friday Night: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 17. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

New Haven, CT
Friday: Snow. High near 33. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Friday Night: Snow, mainly before 1am. Low around 20. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Thanks! Here's hoping the snow is a non-event, or at least that the I-91 plows are up to their usual high standard. Look forward to seeing the die hard Yalies in Hanover tomorrow night. Go Yale!

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Yale84 were you at the last Anna Liffeys get together. I think it was you that
I spoke to. Maybe we will see you in Hanover. I have lousy seats in Section 3 Row H, according to the Yale AD there should not be a problem moving about.

For others interested there are or will be (not sure if they have them yet) away game tickets available for the RPI game at the Yale ticket office, they said they would send any unsold tix back on the Wednesday before the game, hopefully Yale fans will buy up their allotment. I will be driving home to New Haven from Boston that day, should be a long day of driving.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Hi LTsatch - Nope, I didn't make it to the Anna Liffey's get together so we've only met on the Forum. I'll be at the game with my business partners - we'll be in Section 6 row E behind the Yale bench (I'm hoping we'll be high enough above the Yale bench to see something). I woke up to find I'm losing my voice, so that pathetic squeaking "Go Blue!" will be me. I do have my old old Yale scarf and Yale Hockey cap tho!

A little warning for you guys: If you plan on attending this game, make sure to get your tickets via this allotment. You won't be able to get tickets at the gate, as Freakout typically sells out.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

The local newspaper up here has been promoting tonight's game--you can tell Dartmouth thinks this is the game of the year. The article today focused on Kearney, as he's from the area, and once again informed us all that his sister did win a gold medal in Vancouver.

When I picked up tickets yesterday I was told that it was going to be close to a sellout, which is different from our last two games up here. I'll be the one in the Yale hat and hockey jersey, probably in section 16.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Attended the game in Hanover tonight and was quite impressed with my first trip to the Thompson Arena, I did not expect such a large facility and the place was packed. Yale played their worst offensive game of the season IMOn they did not finish many plays and were lucky to come away with the 2-1 win. The winning goal was the result of a freak bounce off the boards, that landed on Balchs stick. The defense was excellent and Rondeau was stellar espe0ially with the glove, only worry was another wraparound, it is becoming a trend on goals against him. Hopefully this was Yales shake the dust off game. Kudos also to Dartmouth, their physical play really took Yale out of their game.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I'll second LTsatch - this was not our best outing offensively, but Rondeau was terrific, as was the defense. I did think our puck handling improved as the game went on, and we had regained our usual degree of control by the 3rd period - though failed to score. Was surprised not to see Cahill - Laganiere took his place on the Miller ONeill line - and scored! Remarkably few penalties - we failed to take advantage of a 5 on 3 but otherwise not many kill situations or pp opportunities.
The Dartmouth student section was packed and rowdy. When one of our guys was in the penalty box, the fans leaned over the top and heckled him relentlessly.

I also was surprised not to see Cahill, he was a non factor in the last two games, but after his early season success I thought he would be an integral part of the team, I just hope he is not injured, we need his tenacity and semi physical presence. The ride back to brattleboro. Wasa awful, long trail IPA time. Good night

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

It sounded like a physical game. Will the boys have enough left to play a full 60 with a Harvard squad who's desperate?

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

So what is the big NCAA violation that everyone is talking about on Twitter?

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

If everything happens as in the past since Allain has been coach, we will not hear a thing about any players injury. Business like win for Yale tonight, went down to Anna Liffeys and checked out the game feed, thanks to Licwinko for setting it up. there was a good crowd of Yale supporters there including members of the Lady Eli's Hockey team. On that note please keep Mandi Schwartz in your thoughts and prayers.
