Yale Bulldogs 2015-2016 season. Lets get offensive!

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2015-2016 season. Lets get offensive!

You could see it coming. Yale let Dartmouth play their type of game, wide open, instead of the defensive type game we are used to.

I just looked at the box score and could not believe my eyes. How do you guys give up 40 shots at home?? To Dartmouth? Hmm.

Too many uncharacteristic defensive breakdowns for Yale tonight leaving Lyon out to dry. Kudos to Grant for standing on his head for Dartmouth. Too many Dartmouth bodies in front of Lyon all night, also no net front presence for Yale. OT goal was a weak wrister from the point that a screened Lyon never saw.

I think we need to be rooting for Dartmouth tonight! Much rather face them than Cornell.

Congrats to Men's basketball team for finally punching that ticket to the big dance!

Still feel that way?? Careful what you wish for.

Final.

Shots on goal - Yale 47 Dartmouth 15

Score - Dartmouth 2 Yale 1

Tough game to watch. Wife and I decided that if a team has to ice the puck more than 25 times in a game it should be a game misconduct. They just couldn't put the puck in the net. Assuming they make the tourney, they'll be all right. Liked what I saw tonight - good forecheck, solid effort. Just wasn't their weekend.

Check the PWR - you're safely in, currently @ 10.

The way things went this weekend, that is still hard to believe. Yale has a very, very good chance of being in after everything shakes out, but they are not a 100% lock yet. according to my sources they need one or two favorites that are above them to win their conference tourneys.

Basically Yale needs anyone but Dartmouth, Cornell, St Lawrence, any team in Big 10 not named Michigan and possibly and upset team in the WCHA. I can't imagine all those things happening to keep out the bulldogs.

I'm with you LT. Not a lock yet. When we won in '13 & last year we were said to be out & we snuck in. Now it's the other way around. My main message is - I thought this team played hard & with a tremendous level of skill last night - and mostly every game during the season. This is the last time I'll see them (probably taking my dad to bball NCAA's this year instead). They've had a terrific season & owe us fans nothing. And the future looks bright. They had a tough weekend & might not make the NCAA's - which would be a shame for them, not us. But if they do get in, they'll be fine & have a chance to go far. Peace.

Yale got some early help courtesy of their rivals on Whitney when they eliminated Cornell and BC beating UVM.

All of the pairwise predictor sample results I've seen posted that have Yale excluded have ALL FOUR of these outcomes as mandatory:

1. Michigan does NOT win the B10
2. Northeastern wins HE title
3. MinnDuluth wins NCHC title
4. St Lawrence wins ECAC title

Your mileage may vary, but it appears that if Michigan wins or any of the next 3 teams lose, Yale is in. I haven't seen a scenario where the WCHA or AHA games matter if you don't have these 4.

EDIT: Jim Dahl from CollegeHockeyRanked posted a scenario where #1, #2, and #3 above are true, but QPac wins the ECAC.

So, I stand corrected, and it sounds like items 1-3 are the required outcomes to arrive at scenarios that eliminate Yale. In short, Yale fans are rooting for BC and North Dakota to bring the hammer in game 1 and dispel any notion of the 4 seeds winning those conference tourneys.

Thanks for the info, going to be a long week, hopefully Friday settles things for Yale.

I think the first milestone is fairly early on Friday too, because North Dakota plays Minn-Duluth at 4PM CT (5PM ET). So we should know by 7PM ET if UMD gets bounced, in which case all remaining NCHC teams (NoDak, StCloud, and Denver) are already ahead of Yale in PWR, the NCAA "cut-line" doesn't have to move to accommodate UMD, and I think Yale gets in automatically at that point.

Thanks for the insight on this. Told my kid tonight in AA. Red's boys better win B1G tourney or don't bother coming home. :-)

Lyon named ECAC Goalie of the Year, Snively, ECAC Rookie of the Year. O'Gara First Team All ECAC. Hayden did not even make the third team, although the competition at forward was an excellent group.
