I don’t think Infantino gives a shit about the tiny Confederations either. But the structure within FIFA itself prevents the European nations from running roughshod over the rest of the world, CONMEBOL especially. It’s the FIFA bylaws and rules that prevent European clubs from snatching up every remotely promising young talent from around the world without a fee, and making them wait until the players turn 18. It’s FIFA that allows tournaments like the AFCON, Asian Cup and Copa America to exist.

Like I said, FIFA is shit too and fuck Infantino too, but they do have a little use in keeping the European overlords in check.

So if everything is shit, and we know it’s a colossal scam to the fans, why should we bother watching? No matter who wins, they are bad. And they are skimming a shit ton of money from fandom.

Hey I don’t think the bullshit that they’re trying to pull is a good thing either.

But I also don’t want some UEFA led bullshit where the World Cup is 24 European teams and 8 “invited guests”, where tournaments like the AFCON, Asian Cup, and Copa America are effectively banned because players are prohibited from playing, and clubs and leagues around the world are basically dead because all of the money is being siphoned off to the large European clubs and countries.

Those are the two options on the table.

Because it's still football and we still want to watch. Until we don't anymore. My weekends were college and pro football from 10AM Saturday through Sunday night. That ended a decade ago. I can't remember the last time I watched a college game and I only watch the Super Bowl for the commercials. People will still go nuts for their club teams but the World Cup will eventually lose its cachet. We saw that begin this year when so many people stayed home because they couldn't afford tickets.

New rule from IFAB that will be used in the Premier League, EFL and WSL for 26-27

If a goalkeeper goes down and requires a stoppage in play for treatment, the manager has to nominate an outfield player to leave the pitch for a minute or more after restart.
Exceptions are given in cases where a free kick is awarded for a foul on the keeper or if there is a collision between a keeper and outfield player (or if the keeper is bleeding).

This is to reduce the tactical delays in the game to slow play, give managers a chance to give instructions or a break allowing players to rest/rehydrate.

But fifa is on a different level of being corrupt. And as long as fans are willing to tolerate this, nothing will ever change.
