I'm guessing being relegated to the 3rd place game and then losing to England.Mais porquois? Mais porquois?!
Ffs. Uefa needs to break away from fifa. That would start a big chain reaction.Someone's been talking to trump.
CONMEBOL’s not going anywhere, they’re huge beneficiaries of FIFA’s corruption. So it would be a slush fund that Kushner (Trump) and friends would control, would reap the enormous financial benefits of the World Cup and be a nice landing spot for Infantino after he is term limited in 2031. And to make it happen, they are going to b̶r̶i̶b̶e̶ donate to national federations to get them to vote for it.
UEFA and CONMEBOL need to break from FIFA and start their own thing. Without them the World Cup is nothing, which means no vaults full of cash to use to ̶b̶r̶i̶b̶e̶ give money to buy votes, which means they would want to join UEFA and CONMEBOL. They could play a tournament every four years. Call it the Global Game or something. But keep it apolitical; definitely refrain from giving out a Peace Prize to a war criminal...
Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing you aren't a fan of UEFA...or anything EuropeanLet’s not pretend that UEFA is some white knight in this whole situation, they’re only really upset because they won’t be getting a cut of the money.
They’re both shit, just different flavors.
An argument could be made that CONMEBOL will make out even better in a European/South American partnership. And it's not like UEFA and CONMEBOL need the rest of the world. Sure, it'd be nice to have them but it's not critical.CONMEBOL’s not going anywhere, they’re huge beneficiaries of FIFA’s corruption.
And UEFA could breakaway but I’m doubtful that anyone would join them. There’s long history of the European countries screwing over the other countries in FIFA alone that causes mistrust, not to mention the wonderful history of colonialism. The rest of the world isn’t going to sign up for an organization where UEFA has more power and control than they already have.
Not particularly UEFA itself but more the major European clubs and countries.Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing you aren't a fan of UEFA...or anything European
Because if UEFA had their way then CONMEBOL would be nothing but a resource colony of cheap young talent for their clubs. UEFA has zero interest in strengthening the clubs in South America and they’d only want the national teams to be there to smile and wave for the cameras so UEFA has a shred of legitimacy. An argument could be made that CONMEBOL will make out even better in a European/South American partnership. "But what about the magic of the whole world playing in the World Cup?" If this goes ahead, after 2031 the World Cup won't be recognizable anyway, so what difference does it make?
Of course not. The game exists to make bankers in Zurich, Abu Dhabi and New York fabulously wealthy. Not particularly UEFA itself but more the major European clubs and countries.
They’re doing everything they can to strangle the game in the rest of the world. UEFA and the European clubs are building a walled garden, between the Nations League cutting off other countries from playing friendlies, expansion of the Champions League and the Europa/Conference League while trying to kill off the Club World Cup, the clubs fighting to not release players for other Confederations championships (especially the AFCON), and fighting expansion of the World Cup, UEFA and the European clubs want total control of the game on their terms. Fuck that, the game does not solely exist for the benefit of board rooms in Manchester, Paris, and Madrid.
Does anyone give a flying fuck about Bolivia? Even Sundance didn't like Bolivia...Because if UEFA had their way then CONMEBOL would be nothing but a resource colony of cheap young talent for their clubs. UEFA has zero interest in strengthening the clubs in South America and they’d only want the national teams to be there to smile and wave for the cameras so UEFA has a shred of legitimacy.
And let’s be honest, they’d really only want Brazil and Argentina. They couldn’t give a flying fuck about Chile or Bolivia.
I don’t think Infantino gives a shit about the tiny Confederations either. But the structure within FIFA itself prevents the European nations from running roughshod over the rest of the world, CONMEBOL especially. It’s the FIFA bylaws and rules that prevent European clubs from snatching up every remotely promising young talent from around the world without a fee, and making them wait until the players turn 18. It’s FIFA that allows tournaments like the AFCON, Asian Cup and Copa America to exist.Does anyone give a flying fuck about Bolivia? Even Sundance didn't like Bolivia...
Do you think Infantino gives a flying fuck about these tiny confederations, or does he just give them money to buy their votes so he can wield extraordinary power (just ask Vancouver - he thinks he is royalty or a pope or something) and grow even more insanely wealthy?
