World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

USA advance to the knockout round. First time ever the USMNT advanced after only two games. If Paraguay win or draw tonight the Americans clinch Group D.

The big number today was that 0. A clean sheet is huge.

That brother of mine in Seattle I've mentioned ... he broke down and decided to ignore the corruption and prices, and bought tickets for the Round of 32. His wife convinced him. He preferred the Round of 16, knowing USA could be there, but those prices were too much even for him. He's hoping to see Belgium, who needs to win Group G for that to happen.

Why does the SEA stadium look like it was made piecemeal and not in a good way? It's ridiculously ugly.

Hope the U.S. doesn't have any more games scheduled there.

And yes I am bitter the Twin Cities didn't get a sniff of this WC despite the fact it would have been a fantastic host in every imaginable way.

Come to a Sounders game for that. They play Hendrix before every game.

Even had Hendrix themed jerseys for a couple of years.

The merch is awful, like all merch.

I'm thinking Seattle could fill an entire game's worth of fantastic music using only Seattle-born artists. What a bizarrely fecund music scene. What if Indianapolis (larger) had produced that percentage of this country's greatest music?

(If you're wondering, The Ink Spots, then full stop unless you know Wes Montgomery).
