World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

I broke down and subscribed to Fox1. But I learned they carry Serie A so I may even keep it.

I'm an arch antifasc but I also understand it's only rooting for one of the top 3 or 4 teams because of systemic bullshit. I don't want to fall into the Cottager Trap this time. So, who am I rooting for? AS Roma to counter Lazio? Are Inter or Napoli political?

Also, why the fuck am I seeing ads when I bought a subscription???!!! They got their money. Fuck them.
Live events always get ads on top of the subscription. ESPN is occasionally decent and just puts a blank screen up with some text that they're on commercial.

Root for Scotland. Root for Senegal.

Seattle stadium looks great. Are those walk up steps new or were they always there? Giving me Battleship Potemkin vibes.

OK, sure. In addition to Czechia, Norway, and Iran, of course.

Are Senegal the Flying (?) Eagles (?) or was that Nigeria? The guys famous for their amazing kit in I wanna say the 80s?

⚽

Oh, and Cape Verde.

Their fans had never seen a highway before until arriving here since there are no highways on their island and most had never been abroad.

I had a taxi driver from Cape Verde 20 years ago. He was the most wonderful person I have ever met. I unironically believe I'm a better human just for listening to him for about 20 minutes.

Jon Hamm should never be hired for ads. He will never escape projecting cold, cynical manipulation.

"What you call 'love' was invented by guys like me to sell nylons."

The real star of this broadcast is the Seattle stadium. I've always admired it for Seahawks games, but the vibe here is majesty rather than ferocity, and that just fits better. It's gorgeous. And I really hope it is 100% privately funded.
