World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

"Vetting concerns" just means "we don't owe the public a real explanation". Even if their concerns were legit (as you've implied), we will never know the real reason why because it benefits this regime's CBP and ICE directives.

I don’t disagree at all…I don’t think the reason was improper paperwork, like jim is implying, or they would have just come out and said that. Saying “vetting concerns” because he’s a black man from Somalia…we all know what that means. Anyways, case closed. Carry on.

I'm just relaying information I've read regarding the diplomatic passport. I don't doubt the reason there was initially visa issues was racism.

Argentina v Iceland at Auburn's Jordan-Hare stadium is... interesting.

Field looks to be decently wide enough, about 68-70 yards wide from a glance.

I was having a discussion with a coworker about the USMNT and, while discussing players, Haji Wright came up. I mentioned “at the very least, he’s one of the few Americans to score a goal at the World Cup”. Which begged the question: How many American Men have scored at the World Cup?

The USMNT have scored 40 goals at the World Cup.

3 have been own goals
Landon Donovan leads the way with 5
Clint Dempsey and Bert “I scored the first hat trick at a World Cup” Patenaude both have 4
Brian McBride has 3
21 other players have a single goal

Of the single goal scorers are US Soccer legends like Eric Wynalda, Michael Bradley, Paul Caligiuri, and Jermaine Jones, Joel Gaetjens who scored against England in 1950, one tournament wonders like Julian Green and Clint Mathis, and a guy named Aldo Donelli who scored the lone goal in 1934. Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, and the aforementioned Haji Wright are the only three current players to have scored at the World Cup.

Interestingly, the USMNT have only conceded one own goal in their World Cup history: Jeff Agoos in 2002 against Portugal.

We've played 37 games. 1 own goal in 37 games actually seems kinda... high?

I did a little research. Own goals account for 2% of all World Cup goals in history. Our 1 own goal of 40 accounts for 2.5%, so it is high.

We need to score more than 10 goals this World Cup without an own goal to become better than average.

TBF, the US has conceded way more than 40 goals so one own goal might be pretty good actually.

That's a given ;)

Its funny to see how everyone at Fox is putting on an act thinking that the US is entitled to move on... It's gonna be a dogfight for all three matches.
