World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

Jamal Khashoggi could not be reached for comment.
I thought I heard that he listened carefully to their proposal and then applauded the move.

Or is that not what they meant by, “he lent them his ears and then game them a hand?”

In 2026 World Cup news we will have our first qualified teams in March.

Oceania will be done plus in Asia Japan is one win away from qualifying while Iran could possibly qualify as well.

Meanwhile, UEFA finally held their draw for their qualifying groups. A few of them showing how weak some of the qualifying teams are going to be, Group H a good example: Austria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, and San Marino.

Without looking at the Oceania bracket I’m going to guess New Zealand.

Go San Marino!

New Zealand is the most likely from Oceania with likely either New Caledonia or Tahiti going to the Intercontinental Playoff.

Because San Marino won their Nations League group they have a path to qualify via the playoffs. Just need Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, England, Norway, Wales, Czechia, Romania and Sweden to qualify!

Bids for the 2030 and 2034 World Cup were made official today:

- 2030 will be Spain, Portugal, and Morocco as main hosts with Agentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay hosting individual matches as well. Going big for 100 years I guess.

- 2034 goes to Saudi Arabia, who is insisting on a Summer tournament. For selfish reasons, I wouldn't mind the Nov/Dec schedule again. But that is highly contingent on having Turkey Day weekend for Group Play matches, lol.

And they already banned alcohol from the 2034 World Cup

Didn't Qatar originally say they were going to do that, and then backed down?

No, they did the opposite. Said they would make an exemption for the WC and then two days before went back on their word and banned it. Except for the luxury boxes of course. The extremely rich folk still got their alcohol.

Been wanting to post this one all day, thanks board...

Netflix to broadcast 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Maybe by then they'll have their streaming issues worked out. Also, RIP ratings.

I wonder if Netflix put up a bunch of money or if Fox just didn’t care to put up a fight. Too bad for the viewership and the spotlight for the women’s game. Traditional TV is dying but it’s still better to be in a position where people can stumble upon the game channel flipping versus actively having to select it to watch like streaming.

Supposedly NBC and Fox both put up bids.

It'll be interesting for the Men's World Cup bids for 2030 because, at least in the past, FIFA has had an OTA requirement for the opening match and final.

Bundesliga signs an American player.

Finds out said player liked a bunch of conspiracy theory tweets and other problematic tweets.

Has to release statement.

MLS fans: “Did you guys do any research? We knew about this **** for years.”
