What a weird story that I think is only going to get weirder.

So how does this possibly get weirder? Well, Gregg and Rosalind met while playing soccer at North Carolina in 1991, a teammate of Rosalind at UNC and someone who would likely know this story? Danielle Egan, now known as Danielle Reyna aka the wife of Claudio Reyna and mother of Gio Reyna. It's speculation at this point but there's some dots that line up.

It’s sad to basically see two families who were friends for decades, Gregg and Claudio go back to their youth days in New Jersey and Danielle and Rosalind were roommates in college, basically tear this whole thing up over a kids playing time. It’s a crap soap opera come to life.

And the Reyna’s are basically saying they did this in response to Berhalter’s speech that leaked. And that’s a ridiculous thing because it was clear the story about Gio was coming out anyway, the writers at The Athletic had the story but sat on it because of Grant Wahl’s death.

Holy shot. I just read the athletic article that spawned this mess. That makes the Reynas look absolute terrible. It's pretty clear that Berhalter was trying to protect Gio's reputation by saying it was an injury. Reynas and Wynalda for some reason were offended that he lied. Which is baffling. What should he have said? "Your son is a fucking sourpuss and we almost flew him home because he has a shit attitude"

Like, obviously not. They're just pissed that he didn't get to play. But he's an adult and it sounds like his teammates were upset with him as well.

The Reynas and Wynalda come out looking awful in this and now I'm even more upset at them than for just the blackmail alone.

I obviously want Gio to play, but not if he's an entitled doosh that's a cancer in the locker room. Go play somewhere else.
