That's interesting. There's no way they would pull games from the U$$$A sites.
For the 2026 World Cup? It always been a USA tournament with Canada and Mexico as window dressing. Canada and Mexico are only getting three stadiums each and no matches past the Round of 16.

And between Mexico’s issues with their fans and Canadian cities pulling out (Vancouver and Montreal have already noped) it may well be a USA only hosted tournament anyway.

That's what I meant, it would be a way to just peel the Mex fig leaf away.

Does 2026 mean the US builds a true national soccer stadium like Wembley? Or is that the LA Coliseum forever?

Why would the US ever have a National Stadium? Germany doesn’t even have one and their infrastructure is way better than ours.

Why would the US ever have a National Stadium?

Because they're neat.

TBH, the Coliseum is pretty neat and has great history.

The LA Coliseum is a terrible idea of a terrible idea.

a) Azteca del Norte

b) If you insist, the Rose Bowl has way more history, it hosted the 1994 Final, the 1999 Women’s Final, the 1984 Olympics Final, and the Gold Cup Final multiple times, the only stadium in the world to do so.

RFK was a de facto national stadium, wasn't it? But that's getting demolished soon so it's a moot point.

The US has too many population centers spread around the country to have a specific home stadium for soccer.

Yeah, that was my point earlier. It makes no sense for the US to have a National Stadium.

Panama and Qatar going toe to toe in Houston. 2-2 60 minutes in.

Good for Panama the 8th ranked team in CONCACAF.

Not so good for Qatar, the defending Asian Champions.

3-3 draw. It was 0-0 at half, so apparently half time adjustments worked for both squads.
Yeah, that was a crazy half of soccer.

Unsurprisingly, Honduras beat Grenada 4-0 in the late game.

And, given that there was a delay with over an inch and a half rain, the field in Houston held up really well.

So El Salvador seems to have restricted the ability for their soccer team to have crowds for their World Cup Qualifying games in September.

So they’re looking at playing in the DC area instead.

Yes, this includes a matchup against the US, which seems not great for El Salvador. Yeah, DC has a huge Salvadorian population so they’ll get huge friendly crowd but it still negates a lot of the home advantage. The US now doesn’t have to travel far, they don’t have to stay in a hostile environment, and the field conditions will be adequate. I guess the allure of a huge payday is more than the advantage of just playing in the home country.
