Salty? I don't know what you would really expect NASL to say differently.
Something a little better than "don't let the door hit you on the way out. We're different and better. Please pay attention to us!"

I can't wait for the day when the NeoCosmos have run the new NASL into the ground and the decent teams can join a decent league.

Ugly incident in Montenegro - Russia goalie hit in the head by a firework/rocket or something and knocked out cold.
Link

The game was resumed later with a backup Russian goalie - Why didn't they call the game and give it to the Russians??

To spite Putin?

I'm serious. That's the only reason I can think of. You'd think that would be automatic forfeiture.

The MLS subreddit is hilarious right now. They've changed it to basically be April 1 1996. Team logos, schedule and all. And everyone is rolling with it...

After reading that, I have no idea how the league lasted past three years. All those rules make it sound like some after school rec league. Everything sounds ridiculous now. Was it ridiculous back then?

Oh yeah, it's was pretty bad. One of the first things Don Garber did as Commissioner was get rid of the shootout and the countdown clock.

Countdown clock is still used in NCAA soccer and some high school. I *ing hated it as a referee

I stand by my attitude post of a few months ago... anybody wanting to anchor up to that boat is just hoping to use it to leverage NASL to the big time... realistic or not. All the glamor, none of the work.

One of these days, somebody has to explain the concept of clock time in soccer... the NCAA does things I don't like either with regards to the clock... in my naive opinion the clock should be stopped for fouls, goals, and out of plays. Otherwise you set up for non-play time milking.

So yeah, one of these days.

So I don't make a 3rd post. I see closed door matches in Montenegro's future.

It's a pretty simple one:
Allowance is made in either period for all time lost through:
• substitutions
• assessment of injury to players
• removal of injured players from the field of play for treatment
• wasting time
• any other cause

The allowance for time lost is at the discretion of the referee.
Laws of the Game.

Oh yeah. "At the referees discretion" is a very powerful phrase.

yeah, and I think generally its the one I have the most problem with... I mean, when I thought it was literally "time is kept on the field" (not exact phrasing, by any means) I always figured that the official stopwatch was in the ref's hands... its the fudging that doesn't make sense to me... and when to stop play at half. I mean, would they deny a scoring opportunity because "oh, no more time left"?

So Montreal advanced to the CONCACAF Champions League Final last night 4-4 on away goals against Alajuelense. They'll play Herdiano or Club America in the final. Herdiano has a 3-0 lead but the second leg is in Azteca and it is CONCACAF.

So in other words, CA is 2 added time penalty kicks away from a 5-4 aggregate to advance?

An all-Tico final would've been something.

What's worse, a Canadian or Costa Rican team winning this before an American team? Or would it just be nice for any non-mexican team to win?
