Re: World Soccer XXVI: Fun for MLS Fans and Eurosnobs Alike

They managed to go from almost nothing to some form of free agency and a huge minimum salary raise. That's a victory in and of itself, especially given how sports CBAs have gone lately.

It's funny to read the reactions online. I guess people were expecting these massive changes and are angry it didn't happen yet.

The one interesting thing I want to know about the minimum salary is if that applies to everyone or if there is still the tiered minimums they had before...

Questions

1. I have heard of the Algarve Cup, though I though it was always called the Algrave Cup. Didn't this used to just be a tiny 4 team tournament? When did it expand?
2. I thought this was supposed to be a somewhat prestigious tournament given it's been going on for quite awhile. Why are they playing at facilities that a rural Michigan High School could compete with?
3. Who or what is Algarve?

Fox Sports can't broadcast the USWNT game on Monday because the stadium isn't set up to handle TV.

If you think this is bad, remember that this is a relatively minor tournament. Wait until you see the Moncton arena for the World Cup this summer.

Don't they have satellite trucks in Europe?? I know ESPN has gear stateside here that can broadcast games from just about any field.

NYCFC did nothing for the first 45. OCFC looked far better and more dangerous.

If Rivas ever learns how to make an onside run, Orlando will score a lot of goals.

1-1 seems fair.

Oof, no Nguyen or Jones for New England against Seattle.

I predict this game will be a close game until Seattle inexplicably sends a corner kick back to their goalie that's intercepted...

Re: World Soccer XXVI: Fun for MLS Fans and Eurosnobs Alike

Well, Seattle is about where I thought. Ok now but, can they win it all?

Update on the Minnesota MLS bid.

I hope the Minnesota United bid does win Out. I like their plans better than Wilf's. Funny thing is, if they do join, they'd likely be an Eastern Conference team. That'd be weird for Minnesota I bet...

Qatar World Cup Final to be played Dec 18. That's going to interfere with Fox's NFL coverage.

I'm sure Fox can just make that a non-doubleheader week for them and have the NFC schedule late games... Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things... Fox will be told to pound sand if they make a deal of it...

MLS will announce the elevation of Minnesota United FC Wednesday at Target Field.
