Re: World Soccer XXVI: Fun for MLS Fans and Eurosnobs Alike

We won't be hearing anything for at least another week. UEFA meets next week around the Champions League final. The Womens World Cup starts next week. The Gold Cup and Copa America are next month. Those tournaments will provide the time for the various people to meet, almost assuredly without the FIFA brass present, and discuss.

I thought "Blatter approved backwater" was self-explanatory, i.e. not Western Europe or N. America. Think Algeria or Serbia and the like.

I could see Morocco. They've finished second three times in the bid process.

Jack Warner cites an Onion article that said FIFA started the World Cup this week to satisfy the US.

If that's true... HILARIOUS

Pretty sure I heard this was proven to be true.

John Oliver is my hero... He just ripped FIFA/Blatter a new arsehole...

I really do hope they find enough shibby for them to come up with a reason to open up bidding again on 2022. You know, besides Qatar being an oven that you would have to flip the usual schedule around just to have decent temps to play the games during. Hell, I would be happy with the Aussies having it at this point.

Just watched that. I now want to see him drink that Bud Light Lime...

Indeed... He pulled no punches with that... You could tell he was serious about that report... It had it's satire, but you could tell he was serious about that... And I do have to wonder if sponsors are on the take... Once they go, it's the end...

Re: World Soccer XXVI: Fun for MLS Fans and Eurosnobs Alike

Of course Seattle and Vancouver draw each other in the CONCACAF Champions League...

Sepp Blatter to resign.

No way.

Really?

Edit: Guardian confirms.

That's probably the greatest American foreign policy success since the Suez Crisis.

Which tells you a lot about how the last 50 years have gone for America.

Nixonian.

Nah, Nixon kept it short and to the point. His resignation letter is still the gold standard that should be used by any intelligent individual resigning from their position.

At this point, I think Blatter still intends to be involved in the sport in some capacity, just not as leader of its governing body. Whether or not that's due to impending evidence of his guilt remains to be seen.

Well, I was wrong. Guess it was only bribes.

Looks like John Oliver can have that Bud Light Lime now, only took two days!
