Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

So far, 3 more spots have been decided with Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Cameroon advancing. Ghana is very likely the 4th with only the Burkina Faso vs Algeria matchup still in question. It favors Algeria slightly with them being at home and having scored 2 road goals but who knows.

I'm really looking forward to the Algeria-Burkina Faso game. I wouldn't necessarily say Algeria would be favored, as they must win to advance, while Burkina can play for the draw. I also wouldn't be surprised if Burkina were to score 2 or more away goals. In the first matchup, there could have easily been 8-9 goals scored (Burkina missed a penalty and hit the post twice, Algeria had probably a handful of chances that could have been goals if not for poor execution). I'll be rooting for the Burkinabe...unfortunately from the classroom.

Well thats true. I'll be rotting for Burkina Faso as well, love seeing new teams earn a spot.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Just did some new WC draw simulations.

In my first draw, the USA was paired with Switzerland, Nigeria, and Croatia (which, of course, could be Iceland). Yes, please.

Second draw, USA was with Germany, Ghana, and England. Stab me now.

OK soccer fans - I could use some help. Our company is a holding a Super fan contest for a trip for two to the World Cup. I need to make a video of why I'm a Super Fan. I'm not, but I could it make it seem like I am. Except I don't know what to do. Can you guys brainstorm some ideas for me?? I promise to bring home some sort of gift to the person with the best idea if I win!!

you have a team usa connection so I'd start by getting some gear to wear in the video. maybe add a flag, face paint, etc.

If you win, you'll be getting a 1099 for the value of the trip. Do you have the cash to pay the tax?

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Great pride shown by Bob Bradley and Egypt today in earning a 2-1 but too little to overcome the 6-1 loss in Ghana. Black Stars advance. I'll keep all talk of Burkina Faso vs Algeria quiet until tonight since I'm pretty sure FS23 plans to watch tonight?

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Hey, remember how John Terry's mother was arrested for shoplifting? That was funny.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

France scores shortly after a handball on Ukraine. Looks like all is going according to plan.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

USA/Austria is frustrating... US has maintained a somewhat dominant performance everywhere but on the scoreboard... Seems like they have a significant possession advantage...

Not sure about the US goal/no goal ball early in the 1st half... I get that the keeper reached back, but I can't say for sure that the ball was entirely over the line...

Should've been a goal or a penalty kick, didn't get either.
