Pretty sure this isn't new but thought it worthy of a revisit:

Here's a fun one: Eidur Gudjohnsen is joining Seattle for a trial.

Important set of games vs Jamaica in World Cup qualifying. No Michael Bradley, no Landon Donovan; an out-of-form Clint Dempsey. US really needs a win and a tie to avoid anxiety and drama.

A goal less than a minute into the game for the US is a nice start.

So much for that, gave it right back.

US loses 2-1 to Jamaica. We're now tied with Guatemala on 4 points.

We've already got the two toughest matches of the group behind us. Home matches against the two other contenders and a trip to Antigua should be a road that the team can handle.

Except now we're in must wins. If we falter on anyone of them we're in real trouble.

Considering how blah we looked against Antigua at home, that road match makes me nervous.

If anything, I'm probably more worried about going draw-draw (which, if it happened, could leave us drawing dead against Guatemala) in the next two than I am about losing either game.

With all due respect to Dempsey, Donovan, Howard, Jones and Bradley, I think Cherundolo is still our best player.

Re: World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

If I did my math right, if the US wins at Antigua and gets at least a tie with Guatemala in Kansas City, then they are through no matter what, because Jamaica and Guatemala have to play each other.

Let's assume Jamaica also will beat Antigua. That would give US and Jamaica each 10 points and Guatemala 7, with the two Guatemala games not yet scored:
> Guatemala beats Jamaica, ties US; US and Guatemala advance, each with 11 points, Jamaica third with 10 points
> Jamaica beats Guatemala, US ties Guatemala, Jamaica 13 points US 11 points, guatemala 8 points
> Jamaica ties Guatemala, US ties Guatemala, US and Jamaica advance, each with 11 points, guatemala 9 points.

Given their erratic play, however, the USMNT cannot take Antigua lightly. They (Antigua) likely will be jacked, playing at home, and would probably be delighted with a 0 - 0 tie. then the US would face a must-win vs Guatemala in KC.

We are automatically through with four points in any order, because it's impossible for us to get four points AND both Jamaica and Guatemala to get four or more points (for both to get four, Guatemala would have to beat us).

Uncle Phil is selling the farm.

Phil Anschutz is selling of AEG. Meaning the Kings, the Staples Center, a potential new NFL stadium, LA Live, and, most importantly, the Home Depot Center and the Galaxy.

So basically Uncle Lamar passed on and now Uncle Phil is checking out. Sad day.

Anyone know of a place where I could watch Bundesliga online? I thought that watchespn.com might have it, but evidently not.
