Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

I think it's the intent is what got Torres busted. It's like the point that Jimj made about missing a punch. If you do it, you should get booted.

I guess my point would be I don't view Torres as that type of player and don't think there was real intent to injure/harm the opponent. I don't think the throwing a punch analogy works here. Throwing a punch has nothing to do with the game itself.

Bayern with loads of pressure. Schweinsteiger blows a wide open chance, but Gomez takes a rebound from a Ribery shot to score at 38'.

1-0 Bayern.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

City defenders continue to fail to clear a rebound, and Gomez gets another tap-in.

2-0 Bayern at the half.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

Sounds like there was some drama, Tevez refused to come off the bench in the second half of that match.

Now I wish I had kept watching. My internet feed was getting spotty around the 82nd minute, so I switched it off, thinking that City was not about to come back.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

Don't think you missed much by switching it off. Not revealed until after that game that Tevez had refused to come on. What a mess.

You want to talk soft red cards, how about Rodwell's just now against Liverpool?

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

So a big night for Seattle, LA loses keeping the Sounders alive for the Supporters Shield race (however they have win their last 3 MLS games and LA has to lose their last two). They win the US Open Cup beating Chicago 2-0 in the final in front of a record crowd. And finally Seattle and LA qualified for next seasons CONCACAF Champions League.

Great piece in the Daily Mail UK....

Normally this paper is good only for toilet paper....but this is a great article. Its about former Man City skipper Andy Morrison and his battles with violence and alcoholism...

Andy Morrison was a cult hero, a ferocious competitor whose will to win endeared him to team-mates and supporters.

The burly centre back was proud of the example he set on the pitch. The one he set off it caused him nothing but shame and suffering.

Just over a decade ago, in the days before Manchester City’s billions, he was the club’s most charismatic figure. But the team’s skipper and main inspiration also fought a battle against alcoholism.

He was repeatedly caught up in bar brawls, faced the threat of an eight-year jail term over a malicious wounding charge, frequently heard voices in his head and was so tortured by alcohol he wanted to kill himself.

England qualify for Euro 2012...however...Shrek was sent off for Violent Conduct. Wonder who had some bets on that one!

Got tickets to USMNT tomorrow at RedBull Arena..anybody have insight into difficulty getting in/out of the North Lot for a night game? Have a long drive back and want to plan accordingly.
Thanks in advance.

Ecuador should be a good test for the US team. Although I fully expect the US to lose by at least 2 goals.
