I'll be happy if we get a striker and midfielder for Blackburn. Losing both Jones (Jermaine, Phil) kind of hurts.

don't know if you had time but I believe Blackburn is one of the 3 teams they have profiled so far...to the right of the villa article is a link for the series, they have done Arsenal, Villa and Rovers

The League Championship started today...

Pompey earned a draw at Middlesbrough with a goal in the 90th to even the score at 2-2.

Not a bad start for Portsmouth, it was a pretty poor offseason and the roster is still stupidly small.

UNH, has Pompey's financial situation gotten any better?

Well they aren't on the brink of being liquidated, which is nice. They are out of administration but I wouldn't classify their financial stability as good...but it's not bad. Stable at the moment.

Good on that. I'd hate to see any team (City included) die off. Good luck to your side this year, UNH.

It's very tough being a Red Bulls fan now, this team is terrible.

That's what happens when you don't surround your stars (yes I called Henry a star) with good role players.

Somewhere the Cosmos and the Irish are laughing.

I think the role players are good, it's just the depth that isn't there. Backe has run the starting XI into the ground. I understand you try to win every game, but when you have players screaming for the coach to bring in subs, you know there is something wrong.

One thing a manager or a staff has to be good at is gauging fitness and that staff has failed miserably at it.

The real reason I hate RB besides Mr. You-Know-Who is their blatant FU to NY's soccer past. The old MetroStars would bust out the Cosmos retro jerseys and salute Pele, Beckenbauer and Chinaglia. I know the rightsholders felt the MLS would not honor the old franchise, but RBNY is basically like screw you to them.

I like the Red Bulls because the company came in, pledged to improve the team and the arena and did. Now if the Cosmos got a team and played in the city (not Long Island) I'd probably defect. I have a lot of respect for the Cosmos franchise for many reasons but two big ones are: a) my high school Spanish teacher played two seasons for the Cosmos and I really revere my former Spanish teacher b) my mother dated a Cosmo back when she lived in the city (she wouldn't tell me the guy's name) so for some reason I feel a little bit of a connection there.

Not bad being a Sounders fan as they pulled one out of their * against SKC. One goal in the 90th, another in stoppage time to win 2-1.

MLS announces a three year deal with NBC Sports starting next season. 45 games per year across NBC and NBC Sports networks. Great deal for MLS, NBC, and FSC really.

Anything that takes away from the evil empire is a win. Watch ESPN bury MLS.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

I think I'm happy about this, I would have liked to see ESPN keep some sort of stake though. (Edit: More of the stories I'm reading seem to be implying ESPN and NBC. If that's right, awesome.)

Also worried about who they will get to announce/do the pregame show.

How is FSC losing MLS a great deal for FSC?

I'm not following this at all. Again, NBC is taking over the FSC side of the MLS deal. ESPN retains their piece of the MLS deal from what I understand, so nothing is getting taken away from the evil empire.
