The only one who may be able to stop this French attack is Wellington.

2 people scored.

Morgan was a sub, so that is called smart player management. :)

Wambach with another header and some chick kicked one in:D
oh yeah, game over

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

That's a really clever joke, I'm surprised that nobody else has made a joke about the French surrendering before today.

Why are all the roads in France lined with trees?
So the German army can march in the shade.

After watching their Women's team solid effort, the French Men's team needs to start playing like girls. They showed heart, class and were very solid. Take notes, fellas.

This was an awesome performance. I noted on Twitter before she scored that Abby was acting like a real leader out there, calmly telling teammates where to position themselves for the corner...and then she heads it home. She has really impressed me. The goals are obvious, but her leadership is even more impressive. And Bob Holtzman interviewed her a moment ago, set her up to talk about her goal, and she diverted it to talk about Ashley Morgan's goal.

It is unfair to compare this team to the 1999 squad. This is a different team, a different situation and they are facing different opposition. They are writing their own story and it could have a tremendous final chapter on Sunday.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

In the action I saw, both Brazil and France looked like better sides...but in the end the US found a way. Of course, went home for lunch today and saw France dominate and tie the game. Had to head back to work before the Wambach goal.

Alex Morgan didn't impress me (as a soccer player), so I'll have to wait and see her goal...

All you need to know about France is that they gave us Glass Joe.

I feel the same way! I was on the bike watching the first 70 minutes of the game tonight, and as soon as I get off to do some weights they score 2 goals.

So of course, being only 90 minutes away from Frankfurt, I checked out ticket availability and was surprised to find tickets available. A bit more than I wanted to pay, but considered I am not likely to be so close when the US is in a final so went ahead and ordered.

I go back to what Wambach said in her ESPN video...they were so much fitter than the Brazilians. She said at the end of regulation she saw that the entire Brazilian team was gassed. They took seats on the grass and guzzled water. The US team huddled and kept it's composure. Even though they had been playing with 10 for 35 minutes, they were still the more conditioned. The Brazilians have the top front line in the world, but the US has the best keeper and solid defense. The US is also mentally the strongest side in this competition, and 2nd place isn't even close.

Considering she is the youngest and most inexperienced player on the squad, any contribution from Morgan is a bonus. The fact that she makes the difference she does is a testament to how good she is.

Cheer loudly for all of us!!

Uh oh. Japan knocks off Sweden to make the final.

They're officially in Tragedy Mode.

I would argue that they already do play like girls, only, against men.
