Re: Norwich City back in the Premier League!

I don't know, I thought the ref was okay. He let a lot of stuff go, but that was fairly even. Got both the pen and non-pen call right. Call on Jones that led up to the first goal was iffy, but I can sort of see his reasoning.

I don't lay a ton of the blame for this one at Bradley's door - it's not his fault Ream committed that idiotic foul, not his fault they couldn't finish late on, and not really his fault Landon Donovan didn't seem up for it tonight - at the same time though, it's infuriating that he doesn't seemed to have learned a ****ed thing from his failures at the World Cup. The team still can't seem to come out of the gates ready to play, and they are still getting outmaneuvered tactically.

If we don't get to the semis, it's time to fire Bradley. If we do, can we have this man in the link do it to the song in the background. :D

If we don't get to the Final and keep it close against Mexico then Bradley deserves to get fired. I can understand losing in the Final to Mexico but anything else is just unacceptable. If this is how it is, we might not make the World Cup

I think The Master should be allowed to fire Bradley. :D (Heck I'd like him to torture a certain coaching staff at One Bills Drive.) How odd that The Doctor is bald like Bob in the clip. :D

I don't think its necessarily on Bradley that the team doesn't show up until the second half. The players are adults, and professionals, and cognizant of the issue. Do your jobs from the get-go.

But again and again and again? One time, sure, maybe the players weren't up for it. Isn't it on the manager to get the players to "do your jobs from the get-go"?

In the past calendar year or so, the US has been soundly beaten out of the gate by the Czech Republic, Turkey, England, Slovenia, Ghana, Brazil, and Spain. 7 times in 12 months! And it's not like the players were the exact same for each match. So, if you change the players and the result remains the same, who is left to blame but the coach?

He got old. Anelka too.

Why do people in this thread keep quoting me on posts I never made?

As WeWantMore pointed out this has been a recurring problem since before the World Cup. There have been different players in those lineups along the way and the same thing keeps happening. At some point you have to point your finger at the coach.

I do think overall that Bradley did a good job in the last World Cup cycle. I don't think any national team manager should get more than one cycle. Bradley does not seem to be able to change his starting formation. Everyone knows this and plans for it accordingly. That is why I think the team always starts on the back foot. If only he could make some of those adjustments he makes in game before the game even starts I think the team would not always be playing from behind.

My goodness. Mexico are romping over Costa Rica 4-0 just 39 minutes in. Yikes.

ESPN has a long long piece on Gulati today. Some interesting stuff in there.

I'd like to think the problem at Villa Park isn't that the management has no idea what it is doing...BUT, they really struggle with getting themselves organized on managerial hires (which they have had to do twice in 10 months). Now, when you bring in an older guy with poor health it might make sense to have a succession plan in mind...when he then has a heart attack and can't coach for the last month of the season...it might be a clue that you should warm up the fax machine and dust off the rolodex.

Granted, every eye twitch gets analyzed by the media but there had to be some way to surruptitiously gauge interest from ancelotti, martinez etc. without setting off the fire alarm. The whole thing smacks of the class loser televising each attempt he makes to get a cheerleader to go to the prom with him...worth the try maybe but don't stop the whole lunchroom to have them see you get shot down.

Further, the EPL should start some effort to get more effective guidelines around permissions to talk, tampering etc. so teams can operate within some boundaries...it might hurt them in their next hunt/defense but it also will protect them when the tables are turned.

Guadeloupe bangs one off the crossbar. Another strong start by the US.

Clint Dempsey missed about 6 months worth of chances tonight.
