City bought that slot. :D The sooner City fans realize they use money for influence the better.

Not that I think Bradley is great shakes or anything, but I think the issue is personnel more than anything. Who on this team should be scoring goals? Who should be marking people? The US has a deeper pool than ever, but aside from Donovan and Dempsey and maybe Stuart Holden, there are no field player studs out there.

The fact that we can't, for some reason, develop a Chicharito is not Bradley's failing. It's something systemic.

And the USSF has started addressing some of the directors for the lower levels who haven't been doing a very good job. I think what's more important than replacing Bradley (which I don't think is necessary because there's not much out there) is having an honest assessment of how youth players are brought through the program starting with U16s.

You know what is Bradley's failing? Losing to Panama. Bang on about the talent issue all you like, you can't tell me Panama out-talented them last weekend.

Anyways though, I agree with you that the problem is more systemic. In that case though, wouldn't it be beneficial to bring in a coach who has the guts to say "Hey, this system isn't very good" rather than one who says, "Hey, that's not my area, what can ya do"?

Wow. Revs attendance was 6680 Wednesday opposite the Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup (which got a 64 share in the Boston market). Those people must HATE hockey :p

Creativity is wrung out of US kids by the formality of travel soccer, ODP and Academy programs. Everything is training and training drills...there will never be a move named after a US player because they never invent anything. Magic Johnson, Doctor J...they learned on the playground...our U17 and U21 players learned at club teams and showcase tournaments playing against kids who play the exact same way they do.

Just like t-ball for 6 year olds is ridiculous, having 7 year olds playing a formation, staying at one position etc. is bad for the game. But the only way to be on a winning team and/or get recognized is to come up through that "t-ball" process.

Think USA could get a decent team up by going to the barrios?

FIFA and Interpol are investigating match fixing at the Gold Cup.

i know of at least one club that has started a hispanic program to meld the two groups...many immigrants don't want to play 'organized' soccer at us clubs...sometimes it may be money, sometimes it could be language, sometimes it could be a disagreement with how soccer is taught. Absolutely clubs should be reaching out to groups from south america, the islands and mexico and trying to get their kids involved. I can't explain it perfectly but if you go to the local public park around here you will see Mexicans of all ages playing together, the game ranges from motley to beautiful. They don't like to play with white kids, if I tried to get my son in the game they wouldn't allow it. no issues with that on my part...it just is the way it is. At the club in question they started with mexican only teams, yes there was some grumbling...now the travel teams have a few mexican kids on them. I don't know exactly why they are so good, but they likely touch a soccer ball 10x more in a week than their white suburban counterpart. That and when they play with family and friends, they are playing with skilled players vs. guys who never played the game but own a ManU jersey.

The inverse would be 'should Saudi Arabia invite the ex-pat American kids to be on their little league team?' Well, if they want to win they should. I'd say the same thing for our USMNT.

USA wins 2-0 in a game they dominated once again. On to the semis to face the winner of El Salvador-Panama.

Heck of a dive by Jones to buy that red.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. It could have been an audition for Serie A.

Winning despite their vindictiveness towards United. Now that's the ultimate FU to the FA.
The FA vindictive toward ManU? Surely you jest. ManU had gotten away with more than anyone else in the EPL over the years, including chronic harrassing of referees. The fact that they've finally started controlling SAF a little bit is too little too late in most peoples' books.

Embellishment rather than dive. The Jamaican defender made contact with Jones's trailing heel, which put him off balance.
