Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

I haven't paid enough attention to know exactly what is so wrong with Ireland. All I know is that he's no Milner, but he is coming over with 20 million pounds.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

There are reports that Mancini has given his blessing to Shay Given departing from Man City. Sounds like he could be headed to Arsenal, or to Fulham if Schwartzer moves from the Cottagers to Arsenal. It would be a pleasant surprise if Arsenal finally got a good keeper. :)

He's something of a head case. Lied about a dead grandmother to get out of Irish national team duty, then when that was proven false he did the SAME THING and said it was THE OTHER GRANDMOTHER, as if nobody was going to see through that one.

Mesut Ozil to Real Madrid, for what is rumored to be (a shockingly low) 15 million Euros.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Nothing wrong with Ireland at all. Beautiful country with nice people. They're still a little bit bent about something that happened involving a guy who ran off to RBNY.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Zenit scores in the 3' to go up 1-0 at home against Auxerre in the first CL game of the day.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Ugh, only Spurs would concede a goal that hits someone in the back.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

hey, maybe Spurs getting CL football is a good thing! :D

I'll have to head over to bigsoccer and read the Spurs fans' moaning.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

3-0. This may be the season... they aren't going to spend money on a striker without CL football to play. FUUUUUUUUUCK.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Okay 3-1. Thank you Seb Bassong. 3-2 down heading home wouldn't be the end of the world...

Even 3-1. It's road goals tie break, right? So 2-0 would put them through?

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Correct. But this shambolic defending and goalkeeping isn't making me too faithful in Spurs being able to keep a clean sheet anywhere.

I don't think goalkeeping is the issue: Gomes is legit. The D needs to be tightened up, but Dawson and Corluka will be fine. King will shore things up; he just can't play on this artificial turf. Assou-Ekotto isn't as bad as he's shown today.

They held Man City at home, and Young Boys are no Man City.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

How does UEFA even allow these games to be played on artificial surfaces?
