Nice save...

Looks like Larissa will have to keep her clothes on. :p

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

the only downside of this world cup... which was probably going to happen anyhow since its the nature of the coaching... maradona is probably going to get sacked :p

I'm sorry, I'm sure he's not the world's greatest man (I don't know one way or another) but he just reeks of awesome.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

I am looking forward to a Netherlands/Germany final.

Sure the other teams could win, but I think that match would produce a great final. Not just a defensive war waiting for PK's.

Speaking of Germany, I think pretty much everyone was wrong about them before this tournament started.

That's not awesome you smell, that's cheap argentinian hookers and blow.

1) Nederland/Spain would probably be the most exciting final.

2) Germany lost to Serbia, and if Ghana had won that terrible 1-0 game that Germany won, they would have been out. They also benefited from some very bad calls, the red for Cahill (which would have probably had the final score of that game much closer) the missed goal for England (then the third goal for Germany being scored off encroaching on a free kick) then getting Argentina on absolutely their worst day and destroying them impressively.

What I'm saying is everyone knew this Germany team had talent. Loads of talent. What they worried about was the age factor, how young this team was and how little big game experience they had. Turns out, they're so young they don't know how to be afraid.

And the Germans never come across as unprepared, no matter how young they are.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Spain doesn't play an exciting style. They play ball control. Sure they can score, but usually just enough to get by.

I guess if you like a passing clinic, it would be interesting. Although passing didn't really help Brazil much.

Did TBA just discount every win Germany had as being the result of something other than their own quality?

Spain totally plays exciting...usually. They're just not doing this in this tournament because of the horrid play of Iniesta, Torres, Xavi, etc so far.

If they click, they can be the most exciting team to watch.

I'm discounting your opinion that we all discounted Germany. Most people didn't. Maybe they did on here.

Also, I like how it turned out with 3 Euro teams and 1 South American teams in the semis.

Suck on that, Euro-hater Lalas.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

I know. Doesn't change the fact that nobody likes BC.

I think Mueller looks like the sensei of the Cobra Kai dojo:

Was it just me, or did anybody else think that the coach from Paraguay look a lot like Paul McCartney??

That's not awesome you smell, that's cheap argentinian hookers and blow.
Have you seen Argentinean hookers?? Especially the high end ones?? Looks like Awesome to me!!

Personally, I thought if Paraguay could have just gotten a few more long passes up to their strikers they would pretty **** tough to beat today. They play great D, without it feeling like they're all sitting back there in a shell.

Personally, I think the USA should look into scheduling a few more friendlies with some of the South American sides more, get them better prepared for WC action later on.
