Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Quite frankly, I have no problem with a ref that swallows the whistle. As long as he keeps it under control.

I don't like the ref buying the dives either, but I don't want to watch rugby either.

Its why I try to avoid watching any Bolton matches.

Alrighty, here we go. Soccer is satanic...

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

And now paraguay got hosed.

I didn't think he was offsides when it was live and in replay it was quite clear.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

I dunno, I suppose I could see the argument that the player who WAS offsides may have been involved in the play to the extent required for him to call it. But still... Hosed.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Is it offside because Sergio felt obligated to defend the other paraguayan player that was offside?

I think that's what the linesman blew for it to be offside

It was harsh on Paraguay, but the offside player jumped and just missed heading the ball, isn't that active enough?

In my opinion, yes. The official made the correct call. Who's to say what the defenders would have done if the offside player hadn't jumped for that ball?

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

I agree also, that he was active enough. If he stayed where he was while offside, didn't go after the ball, he would have truly been inactive.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Iniesta and Alonso have had stinkers and Torres is having a hard time getting involved with his teammates.
