Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Now that's the kind of thing that kills soccer in America. You benefit from purposely using your hands against the rules.

Not sure I buy that. In the NBA, you foul someone on a fast break to prevent a layup. In college football, you haul down a WR to take a 15 yard Pass Interference penalty instead of a 60 yard TD pass. In hockey, you sometimes have to take a penalty to prevent a goal. Happens all over.

Get Ghana!

FWIW, the US is now the official favorite for Knockout Virus champions. :D

Fancy goal to win it...ala Marek Malik.

The emotions and highs and lows of those last five minutes were incredible.

Argument over. If every sport ever didn't involve intentional rule breaking at some point, there might have been something to discuss here.

Hell, in baseball, you're not allowed to intentionally throw at a batter but that doesn't stop pitchers from doing it when they are trying to accomplish something.

Come on Bob. It is an even more desperate move then knocking off the net in hockey to prevent a goal. Last resort. I admire the play. After our guys lost to Ghana the last two cups, I'm glad they found the absolute most painful way to lose.

Oh, Asamoah Gyan. They're not going to remember you for scoring against the USA anymore, are they?

That sounds just like basketball purposely fouling at the end to stop the clock and challenging the other team to make free throws to win.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Gotta suck for Ghana there. to be that **** close to winning it all, and to lose..... talk about your kick in the nuts.
