I doubt I could be more confused by your string of posts.... Wenger barely said boo about Stoke's long throws... I am sure he was more concerned about their hacking and whacking tackling tactics than their throws. But, you are way off topic here. The point is that I will be happy to call out Arsenal whenever AND whatever they are wrong about, but to call them out for signing academy players from other teams (like they are the only ones that do it) is ridiculous on your part-- and I think you know it. Chelski, Man Utd, Liverpool, City, Everton, Real Madrid (huge "violators" of the jmh rule), Barcelona (equally huge "violators"), Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan... and on and on all get kids from other academies. Arsenal has done it... Walcott and Ramsey immediately come to mind... but they also grow their own talent in their own academies.
Hell, there are clubs -- Southampton comes to mind --- that ENCOURAGE teams to come and buy their young players. Crystal Palace is another. It is how they stay operational largely. Victor Moses got Palace 10m pounds.... Walcott got Southampton the same amount. These are teaching clubs. Their academies are very strong and they take youth, teach, and then sell... it is a business. Barnet is another and PSV Eindhoven is another. Benfica is another. These are clubs that SPECIALIZE in this art. I am sure you have heard of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. If not, google him. He is Southampton's next "wonderkid". He is 17 yrs old and Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelski, Man City, and Liverpool are all chasing him like mad. He will get Southampton a minimum of 10m pounds. (
http://www.thesportreview.com/tsr/2011/01/alex-oxlade-chamberlain-liverpool-manchester-united/) Don't kid yourself, it IS big business. These feeder clubs DEPEND on the sale of their shining starlets to the bigger clubs. If you don't think that is the case, you are crazy.
From the linked article I cited here: "It is understood that both clubs (Man Utd and Liverpool)—along with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City—are keeping a close eye on Chamberlain, with Southampton reportedly willing to let the 17-year-old go for £10m.
The midfielder, who is understood to favour a move to Chelsea, is the latest product of a youth system that helped develop the likes of Alan Shearer, Matt Le Tissier, Wayne Bridge, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott."
