Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Anddddd a bad ball by Dempsey gives Torres a scoring chance that eventually goes in.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Thank Baby Ganesh. Fulham looks incredible (or LFC looked like crap) the last 12-14 minutes.

Thankfully that bad decision in the first 6 minutes of the game didn't cost us any points.

Pantsil is a nutjob, btw.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Yeah, how dare he get angry when he gets fouled four times and then sees a yellow card.

Awfully good fortune for Liverpool to get three points out of that.

You mean when he fouled Johnson at the beginning with the huge shove in the back? Then as Agger held him from attacking Johnson, faked a NECK injury and claimed Agger had grabbed him around the throat?

And awfully good fortune that Liverpool had a goal wrongfully ruled out for offside when he was a half yard onside, followed by a dominating first 45? You don't think the early goal would have forced Fulham to take more risks, which might have had them over-exposed during that first 45 where Liverpool played incredibly well?

Man, spin away.

No, I mean when Gerrard kicked him in the back of the legs, but I'm sure you must've coincidentally been blinking when that happened.

And "half a yard onside" is about half a yard more onside than he was; it was borderline, and it went against Liverpool, but borderline calls go against you sometimes. Sorry to break it to you that it happens even when you're used to getting all the calls because you're a big club.

You're completely full of **** though, keep thinking Liverpool gets the calls because we're a big club and you're not. We haven't gotten many calls our way all season

Haven't in the last 5-6 seasons. As ManUtd supporters will attest, it's not 1990 anymore.

You've got such a ridiculous entitlement complex that you just don't realize how many calls you get. Like the, what, two? three? obvious shirt pulls that didn't get called.

I'm with you, I think the linesman could have called it either way. And Pool shoulda had a couple of cards in the game, the most blatant was when Johnson was running down the pitch with the ball and a Liverpool player lunged at him from behind, stepping on his achilles, not getting remotely close to the ball. Just an advantage call.

Called it either way? Right or wrong? At that level, he has to make the call right. No part of his body is ahead of those men. To declare a man offside, you have to have some evidence, it's the burden of proof to show he is in the offside position, you need to see something to consider him offside. There's a Fulham player AHEAD of Torres and closer to the linesman. That's a bad call. And at this level its not even close. Hell, the lady linesman involved in the West Ham-Liverpool got into all that trouble and that call was closer than this one AND she got it right. Yes, Liverpool should have had more cards. Paulsen certainly deserved one, the guy is Scholes-esqe with his tackling (and he's a defensive midfielder, gah.)

But hey, let's forget Sidwell's two footed challenge which was WORSE than the one that had Gerrard sent off in the FA Cup. No card.

But it's only Liverpool who get the decisions. Oh and I forgot the theatrical fall Murphy had when he held on to Agger's jersey, then fell to the ground when he lost his grip and got a free kick just outside the area.

Only Liverpool get the calls, you see, they're a big club. It's amazing how much whining can go on when the biggest decision of the game went your team's way. Really?

Chelsea have made a £35million bid for Fernando Torres, which has been rejected by Liverpool.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Seems like the New York Cosmos are really trying to get things rolling. Pele, Eric Cantona, Cobi Jones all in the fold? I didn't realize they were starting a team of players way past their prime.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

This is ridiculous.

Blackpool have been fined £25,000 by the Premier League for fielding an understrength side against Aston Villa last November.

The Seasiders' manager, Ian Holloway, sparked controversy when he made 10 changes for the fixture at Villa Park on 10 November in order to rest players during a busy week.

Who gets to pick the team? The manager or some Premier League suit somewhere?

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

US midfielder Michael Bradley has been sold in a €5 million deal. The club won't say who've bought him though, it should be announced later today. Galatasaray, Palermo, and Sunderland are all names being tossed around.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Liverpool has ponied up 22.8 for Suarez. No word yet if he has to play with his hands tied behind his back or if he has to wear a muzzle.

Thanks NESV!

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

I think it is probably safe to assume that the USMNT won't be playing in Cairo next week?

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

MLS announced today that Houston will now be in the Eastern Conference, moving over to keep the teams even with Portland and Vancouver joining.

More importantly though, as Ives just tweeted, the season starts in 6.5 weeks and there's still not a schedule released or a playoff format.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Fernando Torres has turned in a shock transfer request just three days before the signing window closes. The club has rejected the request.

I am absolutely gutted. I thought the team had turned the corner and with Suarez coming in to make the team a fearsome duo. Even if he doesn't go now, he'll probably go in the summer. Effing hell.

I think if they get 42.5 plus Sturridge it would be great value for them. On his day he is unplayable, but he's been hurt so much the last few years i'm not sure how much you can count on him. Liverpool needs a bunch of players and if I was one of their fans I would rather have say Ashley Young, Charlie Adam, Danny Sturridge, and maybe a left back or central defender instead of him. You don't want him around the team if he is unhappy either.

Kalyan, sorry, buddy... that hurts, I know. And, what's worse, he will be on Chelsea by Monday.... guaranteed. You can't have a malcontent on your team for the better part of the next 4 months. Can't happen. Suarez will replace Torres up top and Torres will be paired with Drogba and Anelka heads to the bench. Sad.....

The deal will go down for a British transfer record of around 35-40m pounds (if you believe the press outlets).
