On Edu? Now that's just ludicrous. I guess he decided when he gave the FK that he wasn't going to let a goal be scored on the FK at all costs.

Maybe you don't give the FK?

I could be wrong, but I thought it was for Bradley being offside. It looked to me like he went a little early and was half a yard off. The ref definitely blew up before Edu made contact with the ball. I thought overall he wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. We consistently see worse officiating in the prem. I think Dempsey was extremely lucky not to be sent off. If that doesn't happen in the first minute he probably is gone.

I would have thought Michael Bradley being put in a 1980's style WWF bearhug would have been a foul too.

Complete with reach around.

That's not what the ref said after the game.

Besides, Bradley didn't touch the ball. Even if he was in an offside position, Edu wasn't and Edu put it in the net.

I don't really like Lalas as a pundit, think he says silly things a lot. However, you can really tell the guy cares about the US team with his heart and soul. He was clearly seething in the postgame show, could barely look at the camera as he spat out his words.

Also on the Ref's case here but what was up with stoppage time? It was +3 mins, only 2:14 was played and there was an injury in which someone was taken off on a stretcher.

Also, on EVERY USA Free Kick, it was called back due to a "foul."

My guess is that the ref is calling it on the guy in the middle who ends up on his back - can't tell who, #9 maybe? - while causing the Slovenian to stumble backwards with him.

Horrible call considering everything else going on.

Edit: After viewing the closeup, that guy was in a headlock, so no way he should have been called for the foul. Still have no clue what it was.

The USA is often screwed by poor officiating, but the key is to score enough good goals so that the inevitable screw jobs don't keep you from winning the game.

The USA defense was horsecrap in the first half, while the second half comeback was gutty and exciting, the USA must do more early in games to avoid these ties in the first place.

I'm officially boycotting Slovenia; they'll never get another dollar out of me.

Does anyone know if the Slovenian player injured at the end is OK? I just hope the young man is able to walk again! I can see why a country where they injure so easily was Serbia's ***** for the better part of a century.

watch the ref and realize he has to make a decision before he moves his body to make the signal... he starts motioning before the shot even gets to Edu... I have no idea what he saw there.

Come on man, do a little Google-ing. He's already reffed at this tournament, in the opening match (a prestigious assignment), and did just fine.

Will someone tell the ESPN guys that the U.S. actually does control its own destiny no matter what? That's about the 3rd time I've heard them say they don't unless England ties or loses.
