Ahem.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

When all is said and done, England won't get enough going to get a winner, no matter how hard the USA tries, and the match will end in a 1-1 draw.

I wish I gambled.

Stephen Gerrard doing the classy, albeit unbelievable, thing on South African TV afterwards, blaming the ball for Green's error.

Gee, the ball didn't stop Howard from hanging on to it... :p

Good thing Howard got to play with a different ball.

goalies that swallow the ball are fun to watch... when I played in high school (JV) we had a coach who played NCAA D-III in as a keeper and was a firefighter... we all took shots on him during practice one day... one of the balls he came out flying and swallowed the ball right in the gut. Fun to watch.

Again, I must ask, how is Budweiser the official beer when Miller is owned by a south african company?

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Meh performance from USA. They keep telling me on TV how great our defense played. I ask, what defense?

Will be interesting to see how Alergia/Slovenia plays out.

On the upside I was right about South Korea (so far). Greece is all but eliminated, and the South Korea/Nigeria loser will also be out.

I am also still looking good with South Africa going through, although that group is still completely up in the air.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

If I were an English fan, I'd be nervous. Heskey can't finish and Lennon, Wright-Phillips and Milner are just not skilled enough on the wings to beat the very top teams in the world.

I'll be surprised if they get past the quarterfinals.

One thing I've learned about the World Cup is that first game performance has absolutely no effect on second and third game performance and no one's ever been eliminated after the first game.

Teams that lose (not a tie) the first game in this format have advanced 8% of the time. So as i said, all but eliminated. :p
