World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Is there maybe a list online of all the different places having viewing parties?

This isn't the kind of thing that you'd need to organize a viewing party for, at least not in DC - there will be plenty of people watching no matter what. A viewing party would likely increase said wait times at the bar.

I am contemplating soaking in the atmosphere at Soccer in the Circle for the early games, but I'd like to actually be in a bar where I can watch the game reliably for USA-England.

heh... I just realized why that might be a problem in DC :p

Seeing as I hate bar crowds (can't hear people when things are loud) I'm going to park myself in front of the television and crank the volume to 11.

The difference being: I'll probably be in Green Bay this weekend. Milwaukee has the Highbury pub and the Nomad World pub that I could go to. Does Green Bay even have a bar that knows about the World Cup?

Honestly, there is literally nothing going head to head against the US-England match. I'd say any sports bar is a pretty decent bet to have the game on.

FSC used to have a pub guide, showing all the bars that subscribe to FSC (and thus have a good idea about soccer), but it appears they deleted it when they got a new website.

Right, you don't want to miss the sound of all those plastic horns.:D

I've been to a hockey game before... those things are nothing new... at least from what I can figure... though I sit right next to my rear speakers which outputs the ambient crowed noise. that'll be interesting

Is there a consensus pick for which team is the biggest set of dirtbags this time around? I need a team (besides Mexico) to root against. :D

Strictly in terms of diving:

Italy is the Mexico of Europe.

Argentina is the considerably more talented version of Mexico in South America.

Also, Mexico is the Mexico of North America. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

I think Portugal probably boasts the most hated player in Crissy Ronaldo. As a team though, definitely hate the Italians more.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Anyone that recalls Portugal's diving in Euro 2004 still holds it against them. Deco and Figo were abominable whiners that whole tournament, the final in particular.

Portugal and Italy are about as likable as rabid skunks with diarrhea.

How could you forget the three guys fouling Rooney and the Argie ref watching on with glee, and then Rooney accidentally steps on the guy who has dove to the ground in the vaginal area and somehow he's sent off for a straight red.

Nothing will convince me Rooney did it intentionally.

It was criminal what happened. I knew something was fishy when they announced who was assigned to ref that game.
