Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Bradley was in a tough position tonight, the only move I can fault him for is bringing Rogers on ahead of Bedoya.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Watching the Onyewu goal again, I'm willing to chalk it up to rust more than a gimpy knee. Looked more out of position than unable to jump for the ball. Maybe that's a little too rosy a view though.

Exactly. this was a 90 minute tryout for who gets the sub time and for Gooch to get back to fitness.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

We are going to lose to Algeria aren't we. :(

I at least get the feeling that by the time July is over, we'll have definitely wasted four years and the Spain game is going to be shown to be a gigantic outlier.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I dunno if this is official, but Ives has:
Goalkeepers- Tim Howard, Marcus Hahnemann, Brad Guzan

Defenders- Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, Jay DeMerit, Steve Cherundolo, Jonathan Spector, Clarence Goodson, Jonathan Bornstein

Midfielders- Landon Donovan, Michael Bradley, Stuart Holden, Maurice Edu, Ricardo Clark, DaMarcus Beasley, Benny Feilhaber, Jose Francisco Torres

Forwards- Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Herculez Gomez, Edson Buddle, Robbie Findley

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Someone, anyone, justify the inclusion of Findley.
And "He's fast" is not an acceptable answer.

Two weeks ago you were whining about Ching being excluded, and now you're whining about Ching being excluded. Make up your mind.

Ching over Gomez or Buddle would have been a poor choice, imo. On the other hand, Findley over Ching is also a poor choice, imo.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I'm still optimistic. The back line is a concern, but we'll know much more after the Turkey game about how this team defends, Maurice Edu is not a centerback is about all we learned last night.
