World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Sir Alex Ferguson endorses Roy Hodgson for Manager of the Year
SAF said:
I heard people on the radio this morning saying that they didn't play well. It was their 59th game of the season and people were talking about their performance! He was doing well to get those players onto the pitch because he can only have about 16 players in his squad. They still have another four games to play yet. That will be 63. They started in that tournament in July. July! Crikey. I was on the beach.
Heh.

This is weird. I feel a strange emptiness where my instinctive distaste for anything SAF says used to reside.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Tevez equalizes for Man City on what I thought was a dubious penalty, then Adebayor puts them in the lead minutes later.

The Europa League is waiting, Villa.

I'm biased, but the Villa player clearly caught Johnson, didn't win the ball at all, and then didn't complain afterward. Clear penno in my opinion.

As a complete neutral in this match, I thought it looked a clear penalty as well.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Meh, Villa wouldn't have won anyway and wouldn't have made the CL anyway.

I also thought it was a clear penalty and felt the handball a few minutes earlier also should have been a penalty.

Hello everyone. I haven't been around in a while and I'm just coming down from my Inter high. :)

I'm wondering what's up with seeing Liverpool/Chelsea on TV. It's apparantly not on FSC or ESPN. I used to watch the Setanta games at a friends, but he's out of town. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, if you have spare time to cheer for my Nurnberg team, they need a win next weekend to avoid relegation. Keep them in your prayers.

Chelsea-Liverpool is on FSC+. Setanta died, and FSC+ is what emerged. There are ton of ways to watch online (that's how I've watched around 30 of City's matches this season).

Darn, I was afraid it was on FSC+. Does anyone know if that's on Dish Network?

If I could get Big Ten Network and FSC+, I'd likely change providers.

DirecTV has both :p

FSC+ costs 14.99/month (same as Setanta). The BTN is available for free in all tiers.

Dish Network also has both. FSC+ is also 14.99/month. The BTN is available in the America's Top 120+ tier and above.

On the first, I thought the ball hit the right hand, which was being held to the body, not the left as the announcer said...I may have to watch it again.

the penalty that was called was valid IMO and I am biased, for Villa. It was lazy and worthy of the penalty.

Warnock had a terrible game. Was it Downing or Milner that totally took himself out of the play on the second goal? Ran off the field and meandered back on without addressing the player with the ball. It was a decent move but what did he think the guy was going to do...go for the wraparound goal?

Have to say, Petrov hasn't done much lately.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I'm not entirely clear on why, but Real Madrid - Osasuna is on ESPN2 right now, in HD.

Not complaining, certainly.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Liverpool deserved to lose but how the heck does John Terry get to head-butt Kuyt in the back of the head AND deliberately handball and doesn't even end up with a single yellow card?

And he misses a penalty for each team?

And somehow we still have the best refs in the world in the EPL.

Sigh.

I think they've been doing that every week. I seem to remember Spanish games on Sundays during the NFL season.

I guess one of the benefits of an expanded European ESPN.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

FC Twente wrapped up their first ever Eredivisie title today. Ajax, despite 14 straight league wins to end the season, unfortunately couldn't catch them. I never feel too bad, though, when a team wins its first title.
Ajax does lead Feyenoord 2-0 after the first leg of the KNVB Cup final, with the 2nd leg to come May 6 at De Kuip. The final was changed from a single game to a two-legged event in which away supporters are not allowed at either match due to the imminent threat of supporter violence.

The Europa League final between Fulham and Club Atlético de Madrid will be carried exclusively on DirecTV channel 461 on Wednesday 12 May, 2:45 ET.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I don't suppose there's really much chance Wigan are going to spoil Chelsea's season, is there?
