Stop diving, Alves. No one's buying it. Yes, you should've had one last match, but you're not getting a makeup call now.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Ah well. Inter did what they needed to do.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Really? You thought so?

I only saw it once, and on a small computer screen, but it looked like his hand was covering his stomach. I probably would have let it go...

If it was in the penalty area and he was a defending player, sure. Ball to hand.

But since he was an attacking player, I absolutely agree with it.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

While Barca continues to play on without the spirit of fair play, while Sneijder is down injured. :D

Too many teams have made a mockery of fair play by feigning injury to disrupt the play of the team with the ball. I advocate playing through the whistle when a member of the opposing team is injured. The referee has the latitude to blow play dead if he feels the injury warrants.

I think it was incredibly harsh. He made no motion to handle the ball, if his hand hadn't been there, the ball would have behaved in the exact same way in my opinion.

Oh well, full credit to Inter, and Mourinho, not that he needs people to affirm how great he is.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

When did you become a Chelski fan?

They had 10 men and they stopped the best offensive club in the world, they didn't have to use disgraceful tactics to do it, they weren't using the Barca-Arsenal Finals tactics of late tackles on Ljungberg down the left wing every time.

The only goal they gave up was arguably offside.

Mad props to them. It's not like they set out to play that way, but being put down a man early I am impressed.

Mourinho is the special one.

Yeah, but when have you been about the spirit of fair play? You're just about rules and regulations and defending the ref.

Barca in the first leg clamored for the ball to be hit out when one of their players got hurt all by himself. In fact they do it on a consistent basis when one of their players is injured. It's what they do.

But Barca has made a mockery of fair play over the years. Talk about feigning injuries to your advantage.

I find that to be very hypocritical.

Wouldn't you agree?

If there weren't problems with "injured" players, I'd be all for it. Let's put the blame for the death of "fair play" where it first belongs, with the teams that take the liberties with that fairness to engage in unfair timewasting and tactical interference.

Certainly I would agree.

That's so stupid.

Why would away goals count for extra time? That means you have a HUGE advantage hosting the first leg. It means you could potentially have 120+ minutes to score away goals while the other team only gets 90+ minutes to score away goals.

I never liked the away goals counting for extra time and while most people like having their team their second leg, I prefer them having the first leg.

Yeah, the relatively minor advantage of playing the ET in your own building isn't really worth the away goals. They should simply do away with ET instead of playing with the current rules.
