Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

On a related note, St. Totteringham's Day is rather late on the calendar this year.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

If it occurs at all. Flappyhandski sure doesn't inspire confidence does he?

I wouldn't be too worried about being at home to a team that is infinitely more concerned about a cup final three days hence, needing only a point.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Dear City,

You are not a massive club. Stay in the Europa League because you can't hang with the big boys.

The Real Team in Manchester.

P.S. You need more of this.

I've been a United fan since 91 when I was 11. I've been through days of Sir Alex almost getting sacked. I remember the days on Kanchelskis, Hughes, Pallister, Steve Bruce, Peter Schmiecal (sp?). Don't call me a front runner without checking the facts.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

DC United won tonight, no doubt meaning the Onalfo *****show will get to continue on for a few more weeks.

At least they weren't as bad as my Red Bulls were last year.

Side Note: Can we please change them back into the Cosmos? PLEASE!!!

So if you've been a fan, when do you remember the days of SAF almost being sacked?

Because the only time they really thought about letting him go was the 89-90 season. A FA Cup third round win over Forest is what saved his career and changed English football forever.

Last time I checked, 89-90 was before 1991. Unless you have your years wrong.

And if you check your facts, you'll see it seems like you don't know much about your club.

And if you know Manchester, it's more of a Citeh city. :)

He wasn't completely safe until he beat Barca in the Cup Winners Cup. If SAF had started in this era, he would have been sacked.

I do know United had waited for years to finally get that First Division/Prem Title before Sir Alex got it. It was a long spell before he got it. Before then, the Pool won it basically ever year.

5990 in New England tonight for the Revs game. I know the Bruins were playing, but still, ouch!

I don't particularly like Onalfo, but I don't think he's the main problem here in DC. We had a rather crappy roster to begin with, and half of it's been out with injury.

We'll see if getting off the schneid helps things.

Great to see Bill Hamid play and play well.

I'm not really a fan of any specific MLS team, just more of an interested observer.

It's not necessarily Onalfo that I dislike, it's the mindset behind his hire. DC ran with their We Win Trophies campaign last season, and likes to sell themselves as a big time MLS club, a club with history. And to some extent, they are correct.

Now then, why would a club that wins trophies, has history, and so on decide to bring in an MLS retread like Onalfo? I just think if they could have gone bigger with their hire. (The Red Bulls getting Backe for example.)

I want to see DCU do well, their fans deserves loads of credit for continuing to come to that dump of a stadium, I just don't think Onalfo is the man to get them there. Although if he goes, Payne shouldn't be far behind.

One wonders how long and how far Kraft will let things slide before he does something, anything, to improve the franchise. He gets credit for helping keep MLS alive in the dark years, but at some point down the line this might become intolerable. Although I'll admit I'm not entirely sure what MLS can actually do to him? Get the other owners to cut him out of SUM money?

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I wish I could be a frontrunner. Someone find a crazy rich dude to buy Blackburn for me. :D

Oh and on a soccer (and frontrunner) related note. I just guided Inter to the Serie A title (32-4-2, 100pts).

Like I said, Arsenal aren't losing on Sunday. Roy is probably going to roll out kids and third-choice guys, other than probably Shorey and Okaka (who are cup-tied); we might even have an Andranik sighting!

Fulham has a much of a chance of winning at The Emirates as Wigan do beating Chelski at Soviet Bridge.

In Soviet Russia, Corner kicks you!
