Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

The wierd thing is that I haven't seen any facts from you yet

Fact not up for debate.

1st place Lake Forest lost to a mid pack ECAC East team.
2nd Place Adrian got embarrassed on their trip out east. Squeaked out a win against Castleton and tied the almighty Potsdam (same team that lost by 16 goals to RIT)

Fact every national championship has been won by an East team.

Let me know if ya need some more.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Fact not up for debate.

1st place Lake Forest lost to a mid pack ECAC East team.

So did 2nd place Norwich....loss to UMB is better than lost to Hamilton or Colby

2nd Place Adrian got embarrassed on their trip out east. Squeaked out a win against Castleton and tied the almighty Potsdam (same team that lost by 16 goals to RIT)

Only in the East would only winning 4-1 be considered squeeking out a win. RIT also only squeeked out a 6-2 win over Potsdom....while beating them up. Is tying Potsdam that much worse than tying Utica...hell even Chatham tied Utica.
Fact every national championship has been won by an East team.

I'll give you that one....but how is that relevant to this year. As has been pointed out....at the national collegiate level the East has never won either. When the east gets "screwed" into having to travel west..we'll see how it goes.

Facts not up for debate

1st place Amherst lost to a low pack DIII school in Colby
1st place Plattsburgh squeaked out a win against low pack DIII school in Oswego
1st place Manhattanville tied mid/low pack NEC

Fact: When you have a 4-1 split (4 eastern teams and 1 western team) in the national tournament, the percentage of eastern teams to win the national championship goes up. I know, don't be shocked by this, I didn't come up with percentages.

But really -- Keep the facts coming! Yours seem to be pretty relevant in judging talent.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

The 2nd best in there conference and got crushed out here. Where there's smoke there's fire. Your 1st and 2nd place teams had poor showings in the East. What else do you want us to go on.
There just aren't enough East-West games to make much of meaningful comparison. That's why you need some more or less regional quotas in the tournament.

I don't follow D-III too much, but it's nice to see how the sport has come along, and to see new championship contenders like Lake Forest.

Interesting all of your fact are east upsets vs east teams while your west schools continue to get thumped out here. I wish you had presented Finlandia beats Elmira or Marian upset Plattsburgh. Because thats what it looks like when your west schools lose out here to bottom dweller eastern teams. But hey nice tie vs Potsdam.

if Plattsburgh or Elmira ever made a trip out west to play those teams maybe we could say that!

But then again...St. Bens beat Chatham who tied Utica...who tied Plattsburgh...so Plattsburgh and St Bens tied or would they beat them since they beat the teams who tied?? I'm confused

It seems like on any of these arguments its always why don't the top teams of the east come west and play.

From the way I see it why don't the top teams from the west come east play these top eastern teams. It's the west that is looking to/ needs to prove itself.

I realize your new...look back over the past decade...the west has gone east several times and the promised return trips don't happen

Stevens Point has gone out a few times, River Falls has, Gustavus has, St Thomas has...Superior went out and beat Elmira a few years back. The only decent teams from the east to come out here are Amherst last year and Middlebury once.

It's the west that is looking to/ needs to prove itself.

Says who?

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Says any national championship.

i guess my comment on this is that if you look at how the west has done in the FF generally being 1 of 4 teams, its not like they have ever been blown out...and hardly anone beat the Eastern teams that won it all those years.)
01-02 GAC 5 Elmira 8 (Elmira 1st 26-1-1--most goals given up by elmira that year)
01-02 GAC 2 Bowdoin 1
02-03 UWRF 1 Elmira 2 (Elmira 1st 23-4-2)
02-03 UWRF 2 Bowdoin 4 (Bowdoin 3rd 23-2-3)
03-04 UWSP 4 Mville 1
03-04 UWSP 1 Middlebury 2 (Midd Nat. Champs 24-4)
04-05 GAC 3 Plattsburgh 1
04-05 GAC 3 Midd 7 (w/EN) (bit of a blowout-Midd won title 26-3-1)
05-06 GAC 1 Midd 2 (Midd Nat. Champs 27-2)
05-06 UWSP 1 Platty 4 (w/EN) (Platts 2nd 26-3-1)
06-07 UWSP 1 Midd 5(w/EN) (Midd 2nd Place-23-4-2)
06-07 UWSP 4 Amherst 3
07-08 UWS 3 Mville 4 OT (Mville 2nd 24-7)
07-08 UWS 0 Elmira 3 (Elmira 3rd 23-6-1)
08-09 UWRF 0 Elmira 3 (Elmira 2nd 20-4-1)
08-09 UWRF 2 Midd 3 OT (Midd 3rd Place 20-4-4)

Elmira has come out west and they lost to Superior in '06 or '07 I believe.

It wasn't really west. Finlandia hosted a tournament in Flint, MI with Superior, Finlandia, Elmira and Buffalo State.

Superior won the tournament...but Elmira went to the NCAA's

What are we going to call it if they add teams in Colorado, the Dakotas or (cringe) California? ;)

It was in Flint, MI (Detroit) not in Finlandia which is much closer to Elmira than Superior
