Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Here's to pitching in $10 a piece per person on this forum to have an 8-team East-West tournament on new years!

i was actually talking to some of the RF parents while in lake forest this year about how it would actually be fun and argument settling to have an 8 team tourney, 4 east and 4 west, in say... florida over christmas break. fun for all!!!

But whether you agree or disagree with my opinion, I believe my opinion is arrived at in good faith, not because I want to bash the West, and I think LadyFalconsFan is getting a bit carried away with suggesting a special thread for west-bashing easterners.

apparently this is my fault. i have a very dry sense of humor and was being sarcastic. i should have made that a little more obvious

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

But why when Amherst loses to Colby, certainly a lower ranked team or Middlebury loses to Bowdein, a team that has not beat a .500 team all year, do they never go down in the polls?? But if a Western team loses to any Eastern team:eek: Just seems to be a little two faced.

The difference is that comparison is between eastern teams. It is not an east west comparison. Since we have seen Amherst beat what we can tell are the better eastern teams the loss to Colby doesn't really effect them as much as if they were to go west and lose to Finlandia. If that were to happen then I would have no choice to move most of, if not all, the top western teams to the top of rankings. If Adrian and Lake Forrest beat all of the teams they played east then I would also probably have to rank the the western teams higher. It isn't really two faced it is just the way things turned out.

but basing the ranking of the whole region on how 1 team performed is a little ludicrous...i guess is what I'm saying.

Saying that well Lake Forest lost to UMB in a one game situation where they dominated the game, but came up short so the whole west must suck...seems dumb.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

The Lake Forest game is an easy one to get over. I agree with you there. Anything can happen in one game(although losing against a mid pack eastern team didn't help there case) But I'm over it.

Adrian getting massacred out here and only tie-ing Potsdam the same Potsdam that lost by 16 goals to RIT is the one I can't get over. If Adrian were mid pack or lower we wouldn't be having this discussion. They are a 2nd place team !!

The 2nd best in there conference and got crushed out here. Where there's smoke there's fire. Your 1st and 2nd place teams had poor showings in the East. What else do you want us to go on.

Like I said before..I understand with Adrian...but there is alot going on there behind the scenes that not everyone is aware of.

To put it to rest....its for the west to nut up or shut up :P

True we had a slow start but there was some dissention on the team and that particular dissention is no longer a member of the team. One player can make a huge impact on morale and attitude of a team. That being said, when we played Conference games, we were in it to win it. When we played non-conference games, I don't think our heads were in it. There's much more motivation to do well in your conference because that's what's gonna get you to NCAA's. Not saying that's right but heck, our program is only a few years old, I think the girls are still learning. Besides, we must be doing something right :)

To provide an example:

This weekend they arrived in Castleton at 4 A.M. and she had them on up at 8:30 and on the ice at 10 for a pregame skate when the game was at 6 P.M. why not let them sleep. After the skate they had 1/2 hour to rest then pregame meal at 1:30.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

To provide an example:

You only prove what some people have been saying which is in the end, even with the best of statistics, every team will have their excuses as to why they did not win certain games. Come the NCAA's we will see how the east and west stack up. Of course, even then I am sure we will here excuses as why certain teams lose.

Let the actions on the ice decide the facts, as statistics and excuses are for losers!! Good luck to all of the teams over the next month, play hard and it will be fun to see the final outcome!!

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

RF put up an amazing fight for 3rd last year. all of the fans were strongly supportive of the girls to the very end. and yet you heard no excuses from any of the RF fans as to why we lost either game. we congratulated our girls on a battle well fought and moved on. the girls were down for a little while, but soon moved on as well. no excuses.

All due respects, but RF didn't need excuses for losing to Elmira in the semi. Elmira controlled the game from start to finish and only a great game from Campbell kept the score close. No shame in losing to a much better team.

I thought RF had the better of it in the third place game, but in overtime anything can happen, and the puck bounced Midd's way.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

I think we need some calrity here:
-If the west beats east teams anytime in the season, it makes no difference at all
-If the west loses to the east it means the west is inferior.
-This Adrian and LF success means abosultely nothing. Nothing.
-The final 4 tournament will be east this year again (probably Platty). There will be 2 teams from the West who will be invited.

Just get used to this. Money runs this event. Very, Very sad.

Here's the clarity your looking for
-When the West beats Chatam,Castleton and ties Potsdam it makes no difference
-Adrian and LF success is hindered by losing to lower mid pack eastern teams
-The final four will be held out West (Platty gets screwed)

I'm used to it. Money runs this event and runs the world. Very,Very sad.

it's comments like this that cause the west fans to say east fans are stuck up.

insert comment about how many western teams have been screwed out of ncaa tourney for money reasons.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

The truth hurts. Causes West fans to go with "the old east is stuck up bit."
Sorry for presenting the facts.

and i could say all sorts of truthful things that "hurt" too. but i don't cause i like to think i have a little bit more class and respect for other people in general than that.
