Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

How is Middlebury still in there?????

It is a "fan" opinion poll. They split with Trinity 2-1 during the regular season and went 4 overtimes with them. In my "opinion" they are even, and as a parent of a Bantam I proudly put Trinity ahead of them, but if you want to be honest, they are even. Just because the east is so much stronger than the west, because an east team that does not make the tournament based on the strength of NESCAC compared to the weaker conferences out west, does not mean that you have to drop them out of the top 10. In my "opinion", especially after watching Lake Forest this past holiday season, Middlebury would have absolutely no problem with Lake Forest.

Echoing these sentiments, Middlebury played Trinity even despite missing Bergman and Ireland. And, their recent loss to Bowdoin hardly looks as bad given that Bowdoin had Saturday's game against Amherst won, only to see a forward whiff on a bouncing puck in front of an open net during their 5 on 3 in overtime.

Enough said, here's my final poll:

1. Plattsburgh (one bad period can't wipe out a season of excellence)
2. Amherst (incredible talent, could have been undefeated if Elek came back)
3. Elmira (hat's off to the comback of the century after a rough first semester)
4. River Falls (kinda like a Nascar driver navigating through a 6-car crash)
5. Trinity (Komerack for Laura Hurd next year?)
6. Gustavus (hold your breath, can they finally get through the quarters?)
7. Middlebury (Someone tell Mandigo its OK to recruit someone over 5'4"?)
8. Norwich (One more recruiting class and they are a national power)
9. Lake Forest (maybe overacheived a bit, great first line)
10.St. Kates (welcome to the party)

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

all I'm saying is when Elmira beat Amherst when Amherst was No. 1 at the panther/cardinal classic they didn't get bumped out of first....but then again my theory of people forgot they were No. 1 before that game was played probably holds true. They had two more games that week and everyone forgot all about that loss. so in theory, losing to elmira in a championship game shouldn't bump you out of the No. 1 spot. Not that it matters anymore

The NCAA appears to disagree with your reasoning.

I'm just talking about the actual USCHO.com poll the week following the panther/cardinal classic is all. can't disagree with anything the ncaa did in the past 24 hours.

And they moved up! Get knocked out in your semifinal round, have beat no one worth mentioning this season(except Trinity) and you go up in the poll. Ridiculous.

Wah wah wah....maybe that is why they did not play out anybody out west, they wanted to keep their SOS up!!;) :D

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Wow if only the poll meant anything...

the NCAA's are set and Middlebury isn't a part of it thanks to a tough Trinity team and a great performance from Iwachiw.

Time to get over it folks and move on to the seven teams that are left.

Including Trinity makes its first appearance in the NCAA's and the fact that the FF is headed west for the first time.

We have the possibility of having two new teams in the FF this year too if Trinity and Norwich win. Likely? No...but still could happen.

I'm not that upset really. I was mainly being facetious and playing along with NHDAD's comment. Like I said...in reality it should have been the ten teams that played in the conference championship games last weekend right??

PrezdeJohnsom09 is right. Let's just enjoy these last 7 teams play and let's see how everything plays out. Now the West will have home ice advantage and we can watch how that plays out. Good luck to all 7 teams!!
