Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

1: Plattsburgh
2: Elmira
3: Amherst
4: RIT
5: Middlebury
6: River Falls
7: Trinity
8: Gustavus Adolphus
9: Lake Forrest
10: Manhattanville

So I had a whole explanation typed out but apparently I got logged out before I posted it so it was lost and I don't feel like typing it all over again. Maybe I'll do it later.

Basically my point was that I admit that I am biased for RIT but regardless I found it very hard to move them down due to how it seems like the top teams have been losing games to teams they shouldn't be losing to. I understand that isn't really great logic but I'd rather see a team lose to a top team in a close battle than a team that they have no business losing to. That being said RIT has only lost to the top 3 teams in my poll, and I think we could agree that a few of those games could have gone either way. They haven't lost to anyone below them, where as quite a few teams on this list have lost once if not multiple times to teams way below them.

Nothing wrong with your bias. The case for RIT (only losses to highly ranked teams) is at least as strong as Middlebury's. The only curiosity I find is how high you rank RF, who has lost to two teams that are currently unranked.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

So Mr. Dunning...in your First-Half Recap you predicted RIT to win the ECAC-W. Do you still stand by that? :p :D

Here are your predictions.

20. Chatham beats Plymouth State at the St. Michael’s Tournament leaving the Panthers and Wesleyan as the only winless D-III teams (at the time)
19. Plattsburgh wins the Panther-Cardinal Classic
18. Trinity hands Lake Forest its first loss of the season at the Codfish Bowl (Kind of right, they lost before the played Trinity though)
17. Oswego wins the Rutland-Herald Invitational
16. Manhattanville’s Katie Little wins the scoring title with over 50 points.
15. Elmira beats Amherst on Jan. 20 in a rematch of last year’s National Championship (However, they did win on 1/4)
14. Two of the Plattsburgh, Elmira, RIT, Amherst, or Middlebury combo lose to unranked teams (So far Amherst is the only team to do so)
13. St. Catherine gets ranked in the USCHO.com Poll
12. Holy Cross beats Middlebury on Jan. 26 and goes unbeaten. (Nope, lost before that too)
11. Trinity’s Isabelle Iwachiw wins the Laura Hurd Award.
10. Adrian makes the NCHA Championship game
9. Norwich wins the ECAC East
8. Wis.-River Falls comes back to win the NCHA
7. St. Thomas wins the MIAC
6. RIT wins the ECAC West
5. Amherst wins the NESCAC
4. Plattsburgh and Middlebury get at-large bids
3. The West hosts the Frozen Four despite the conspiracy theorists thinking it’s headed East again.
2. Middlebury, Wis.-River Falls, Plattsburgh, Norwich make it to the Frozen Four
1. Middlebury wins the National Championship

GREEN - Correct
RED - Incorrect
The Rest - TBD

Yeah, it's been pretty ugly so far.:o :(

Ahh well...I just wanted to create a little chatter with those predictions and I certainly didn't want to make them all easy things like Elmira will sweep Chatham etc..
