Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

You know what they say about ties......I hope you don't have an ugly sister!!;) Both teams have to find a way to win the close one's before the year is out.

At this point I think the only way either one is getting in the tournament is if they win their conference tournament. In fact since the tournament is going west I'm guessing the eastern teams will probably have to win their conference tournaments if they want to get in.

Has anybody heard or seen anything to confirm going west?? I know that is what has been said, and perhaps Derek can do some digging to 100% confirm this, as the West is struggling to get teams into the top 10. I will wait with my helmet and cup to hear from GoJackets!!:D

I think it has to do with a rule stating the tournament must be in the West one ever 4th year or something similar to that.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

It would be a shame if they force it out West when a team may not deserve to be in the NCAA tournament...

There is the once every 4 year rule implemented a few years back. Since it has been 8 or 9 years of eastern ones, we should be getting a western one...but I'm not holding my breath

The NCAA Web site just says at highest seed. Obviously they can manipulate that so a west team gets No. 1, but nothing about a guarantee written there. I've heard all of this too, but there doesn't seem to be anything definitive.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Didn't we have this discussion last year?

Yes but people didn't realize it was 1 in every four years and the first season was 2006-2007.

2007- East, 2008- East, 2009- East 2010- WEST!

The NCAA just has at the highest seed to put something there for filler. The definitive proof is in Matt's referendum he posted and I confirmed this when I talked to Kronschnabel last year (Head of the NCAA D-III championships committee)

You won't have to hold your breath long. Like I said, unless they change the rule, which I havent even heard a whisper of it's going to be in the Wests regardless. Like i said above...the year it was implemented was 2006-2007 so this is now the fourth year.

It would be a shame if they force it out West when a team may not deserve to be in the NCAA tournament...

Deserve to or not. the NCHA and MIAC have automatic bids for their conference tournament champs so there WILL BE atleast two western teams in the 7 team NCAA tournament, no matter what.

lastly just to erase any doubt...

IT'S GOING WEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll try and get in touch with Kronschnabel this week just to make sure.:)

Henshaw couldn't have picked a better time to get off the schnide...

She's been a bit of a disappointment this year stats wise as she was one of the main players I was looking at to help make up for the loss of Coady.

Henshaw just hasn't seemed to regain her form from sophomore year when she scored 14 goals and had career high 24 points.

Here's to hoping she says "F U" Prez and scores the game winning goal in the Nationa Championship:cool:

Yup her first point of the season. Not sure if it makes any difference but she ended up on the ice during a partial line change and wasn't out there with her regular linemates when she scored. Sometimes things happen for a reason and maybe that was the reason...dunno but it was timley.

Bill Kronschnabel was not Head of the NCAA D-III Championships Committee, he was Chairperson of the NCAA Womens D-III Hockey Committee. Very big difference and I believe he is no longer on the committee.

Seems about right...its hard to put river falls ahead of gustavus seeing that they are 0-1-1 against them.

We'll know more after this weekend.

If I had to rank them...I'd say

Lake Forest
Superior
Gustavus
River Falls
St Olaf
Stevens Point
Eau Claire
St Thomas
St Kates
St Marys
