Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Exactly. I wasn't upset. I was curious why he put St. Kate's in the top ten rather than GAC or UST who are typically better teams within the MIAC. I was just wondering if he knew something I didn't.

No twisted panties here.

To paraphrase another poster above ... either you haven't been following the thread, or you're not paying close attention.

Like a "write in" election vote for Elvis, or an Easter Egg in a software program, some people just vote with their hearts or a sense of humor.

It's all for giggles.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Clearly you don't read all the threads and posts here. This far from the worst use of the English language. Just needs some punctuation to make it understandable and an "m" was left off "the" (should have been "them"). So, what is being asked is (as I read it):

"Since we're only a third of the way through the season, why are teams ranked as they are? Has anyone seen them (all the various teams) play?"

Easy enough!

Wow...well done.. you must be a pharmacist! ;)

4and20... can you explain?

I chose St. Kate's because they have the best overall record of the MIAC teams at this point in the season and I wanted to include at least one MIAC team in my poll. I have not seen them play yet but I know they are well coached and I hear they had a good recruiting class. I think I have made my point because we are talking about them and I feel they should get some credit for their play so far.

I have seen St. Thomas, Gustavus, River Falls, Stevens Point play live this season. If I were to rank them I would have Gustavus about 3 or 4 nationally based on the talent, speed, goaltending, etc. But if I did that people would have their undies in a bunch. So I went the safe route and used St. Kate's.

Jackets, your ladies seem to be in every game and have a good record against LF and RF so far. The win over S.Thom shd bring them up -- what are their strengths and weaknesses? speed, defense, skills, cohesion, size? Can they score enough goals?

Oh, FINE.

Go ahead, inject some observation and analysis into the discussion.

If you MUST!

just kidding ...

They have a lot going for them. Their goaltending is really strong. Kunzlemann has a career save % of .94 and GAA of 1.46. The backup is a former UMD backup in Amy Meyer. Their defense is very strong as well. Schmeichel and Dunkel are seniors that have played nearly every game since they were freshmen, Chilstrom is very strong in D as well.

The two Ashleys are extremely fast, if they get out in the open watch out. UWS has had several D1 transfers int he past two seasons. It took a couple weeks for the team to gel last year and I'm guessing thats what happened this year again.

They do seem to have a low goal output, but they are scoring enough to get the job done generally. I also fear the number of penalties they are taking, 7 again last night. However their special teams are ranked up there.

I have a feeling they will open the floodgates this weekend against Concordia and then to open the second half against St Ben's...just in time for Stevens Point.

I didn't realize before that Lake Forest had a 2 game lead on everyone. If LFC drops a couple Superior can still over take them...so I'm happy about that.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Looks like Amherst v RIT and Manhattanvile v Elmira are the only interesting games this weekend.

I'm sure Buff. State and Potsdam are pretty pumped for their game. Except for Buff. State's win over Williams, both teams' schedules have been pretty demanding the last couple of weeks. It will be good for both teams to play a competitive game. =)

After the resuts of these games, Amherst taking 3 of 4 points and Elmira controlling the game against Manhattanville, one could easily argue the Panther Classic on Jan 3 and 4 will be play amongst the top 4 teams at the DIII Womens level. Whether you agree or not, it will be a geat tourney. Glad that USCHO will be covering it.

I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic here or not but USCHO doesnt have direct coverage but Brian Schultz will be covering it with his Game of the Week broadcasts. I believe he has video and audio for his broadcasts so that will be a treat for all D-III women's hockey fans to be able to see!

I would love to be in Middlebury for this tournament as it basically is a mini Frozen Four. However, I just started a sports reporting job for a newspaper and it will be basically impossible for me to get up there.

I plan on interviewing all four coaches for my article leading up to the tournament though so I'll do my best coverage wise without actually being there.

Derek,

If this is a fan poll, great. If you submitted it as your vote to USCHO, I have to ask, where is Amherst?

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

wow no amherst?

Yes St Kates is 7-1 but who have they beat?

Thanks for catching that!!

I had men's hockey on the brain.

I meant to have Amherst at #2...not Norwich.

I just decided to give St. Kate's some love...No one else in the MIAC seems to want to be ranked.:)
