Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

A lot of unpleasant memories coming to light in this thread. YUCK.......I'm here to have some fun. We got the PK Hatty baby! Whoot! Next year it will be Simms, Edwards and Harvey UW will surpass the rodents in the number of PK Hatties. Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just put on your Kessel jersey and go sit in the woodshed for a couple of hours. Calm yourself!

There's a nice article in the NY Time/Athletic about Coach Johnson, and this year's team, if you can get behind the firewall.
I hope it's not a jinx.
Personally, I don't believe in jinxes. It's been a great season, my goal has been met (to make the NCAA's) and they have done it in fine fashion gathering up some fine hardware in the process.

Assuming the fighting nurses win, I read Clarkson's top scorer and their 4 leading scorer are D. UW will have to be wary of the D jumping into the play and finding soft spots at the end of the initial rush to get a good shot off. UW really hasn't played a team with assertive high scoring D like that. I'm curious if either one will look Harveyesque. I'm still on the fence about going to the game tonight.

Haley Winn. Patty Kaz top ten. 14 goals, 31 assists.

Her D partner, Gosling has 11 goals and 26 assist.

Their top O-line scorer has 13 goals and 24 assists.

Did anyone see the Clarkson/BU game? Any insights about tomorrow's match-up?
Risky, from a Karma standpoint, to talk trash before tomorrow...

Statistically for both the season and last night, and the eye test last night, their first offensive line was really the only one that generated offense. They score an inordinate percent of their goals on the power play - one of their two last night, plus an empty net goal at the end - so don't take penalties against them. And that PP has that first O-line plus their two scoring D pair. If I hadn't known to watch Patty Kaz top ten D player Haley Winn, I don't think I'd have noticed one way or the other.

They looked OK last night, but that was only in comparison to BU, who were slow on everything; the BU power play just didn't move the puck or their feet in any creative way at all, and they were really slow on line changes. The first Clarkson goal came because of a slow change by BU (the second on the PP), as well as a couple other good chances that Clarkson couldn't finish on. Everything BU put on net was low, on the ice, and the Clarkson goalie just pushed or kicked to the corner. When BU finally got shot up on her during late 6-on-5, it generated a rebound that BU scored on.

So play well against their top five O and D, and let the UW depth take care of the rest.

MJ and the other UW coaches were up in his porch watching, with MJ holding papers in his hand that he looked down at regularly. Many players there watching, too: KK, O'B, Woz etc etc.

BU had about a 20 member band there, who made lots of noise even when they weren't playing. Good for them. Both sides had an OK turnout of "friends and family" so the crowd was pretty good; 600 some the box score says.

Winn, Gosling and the first line; keep them off the scoreboard and you probably shut out Clarkson. I have to give a shout out to Holly Gruber in the nets. Came to Clarkson 3 years ago from Minn Duluth. Sat behind Michelle Pasiechnyk for 2 years (2 games her first year and none her second) and started on the bench this year behind Julia Minotti before taking over about 12 games into the year. A lot of women would have left for Greener Pastures but she stuck with it and has played really well in the 19 games she has played in (1.37 GA and .930 SV%). On paper for Clarkson to win it will probably have to be something like 2-1 or 3-2. How realistic is that?? Probably not so given Wisconsin's goal scoring and goaltending. But that's why they play the game.

LETS GO TECH!!!!

Clarkson should have blown BU out. We should have won the ECAC semifinal vs. Cornell, but we have trouble burying the goal mouth scramble.

If we can convert those, we have one heck of a chance.

2017 was supposed to be a blowout, too. ARD in net and Nurse up front were touted as the pre-ordained winners. Yet, we pulled off the shutout.

Do I think we'll win? Not really. We'll need every bounce, Gruber will have to stand tall, Winn and Gosling will have to dominate their 30+ minutes on the ice and the forwards will have to score.
Hitting 3 jackpots on the wheel is rare.

WCHA v ECAC in all four quarterfinals. I'd love an all ECAC Frozen Four. That would make up for years of the FF being a repeat of the WCHA tournament.

One last thought. Replace the TV crew. They didn't do their homework at all in the Round 1 game.

During the player introductions, when the announcer said "... from Stevens Point, Wisconsin..." it got an extra cheer from the crowd.

(Though I've also seen her as being from Plover, a smaller town near the "bigger" city of Stevens Point.)

Todd with a couple hard core questions at the presser, way to go Todd! How did Ava get hurt and will Eden come back next year.....Ava said she was injured in some between period hijinks (did not expound on that) and Eden said she does have another year of eligibility left (as was thought). She will determine what she's going to do next season after this one is done. I gotta say her at the pressers is fun, she is just a ball of life, living her life in an outward style. I think she's one of those glue type players on the team.

Let's go RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
