Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

So I've had a few and declared to the wife that we should grab tix and head up for Sunday.

She said let's wait till tomorrow to decide.

Dammit... she knows I won't have the steam to choose ten hours in the car in one day to see the game once I've sobered up.

:D

How about a FF in WI sometime!?!?!

They would need to move the boys' basketball tournament out of the Kohl Center, LaBahn is OK for a WCHA FF, but not an NCAA FF.

The Wisconsin D people other than Harvey are not having a great game.
That is worrisome. They allowed way too many nice opportunities that the rodents didn't finish on. TWSNBN has better finishers than the rodents. They definitely won't allow UW many great chances on the rush like the rodents did. UW will need some forecheck goals tomorrow and play tight D.

I have no idea how KK was not concussed on the dirty Murphy play. That hit could have ended UW's run. I don't know if they could beat TWSNBN and the rodents in back to back games without her.

And on top of it she's doesn't go for the academy award after the hit, she gets back to the bench.

The championship game has a radio link for "1070 The Game - Madison's Sports Station". Any idea if they're any good at women's hockey (better than what we'll get from ESPN)?

The play-by-play guy, Paul Braun, was the men's radio guy fro years and years. He may have lost a step, but he's seen a lot of hockey. The analyst is the Badgers' goalie coach.

They were down one to Duluth in the WCHA semis, they were down one to Minn is the WCHA final, they were down one to Clarkson in the NCAA quarters, they were down one to Minn on Thursday.

But I still do not like it! :-)

Abysmal defending and pure laziness for UW on all of the OSU goals.

Yep.

Defense has been a turnover machine, chucking it up the boards or blindly up the ice. Every time they do, it ends up in an OSU chance.

Love Edwards' snipe but she glides on D coverage all the time. Move your freaking feet!

First two goals were in large part her fault.

D zone coverage overall has bee terrible and a lot of bad turnovers.

My heart was in my throat almost all afternoon.

OT hockey... I guess if being at UW/Conell in 06 didn't kill me, this couldn't but I REALLY wanted a title for this group.

And really didn't want Transfer U to get another one.

Kane-esque penalty shot by Simms.

"Who wants it?"

Nails

So happy for these ladies.

RE: who wants it

Does it have to be one of the players who were on the ice, or can it be anyone? On a normal penalty shot (if there is such a thing) I thought it had to be the player who drew the penalty.

Kirsten Simms will never have to buy a drink in Madison for the rest of her life.

Would have been criminal if this team hadn’t finished it off with a title.

As mentioned in an earlier post, Joy Dunne is an absolute beast - the female version of Matthew Tkachuk.

A magical ending to a magical season. You don't always play your best game in these big games; sometimes you just have to overcome that and gut it out. I'm so happy for the team it ended well, congratulations to the 2025 National Champions.
