Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

It's really not debatable whether or not Wisconsin's going to go undefeated at home or overall, the big debate is what I wear to the games? High of 78. Blue jeans t-shirt Jersey? Too warm for Saturday? Shorts and a t-shirt? Tough decision.

When the U18 championships were at LaBahn, I would ride my bike with a backpack that had long pants and maybe a sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt in it. Wait a couple minutes tp stop sweating, then get dressed for the game(s).
 
Wow big news on the broadcast front, Paul Braun is going to be doing all the games with Greenie on the big 1070. Huge news.

We're going to end up eating supper at the rink tonight. I hope I have enough credit in my 3 accounts to afford 2 burgers/waters, a nacho and a brat.

In the last two weeks, the brats at volleyball changed, both at the match at the KC and then at the Field House. They went from standard Johnsonville (and not the pre-cooked from five years ago, etc) to something else. And something better! Less of an 'obvious' casing, a bit more spicy; overall just better. I'm hoping it will be likewise at LaBahn. Johnsonville are OK, but whatever these are are better, IMO.
 
MJ dumped the 3 Fr F on the 4th line. Must be playing to win, can't take any chances with the Woodsters. Was hoping for more of creativity there. Simms and OB are split up and Gorbo is on the first line.

They added bacon to the cheeseburger and jacked the price up lol. I'm curious to try the brats. I really like Johnsonville.

I noticed that too. At first I thought she was just out of position covering a lane defensively but it became obvious that she was playing defense. What do you think MJ's thinking is for this? Perhaps he wants her to eventually play D on power plays?
 
They got rid of bottomless popcorn at LaBahn. There goes the last thing I was willing to buy at the rink! And they jacked up the beer price to $12 (after tax), I believe. Not that I would have bought one last year's price, either. (I like beer as much as the next person, but not at those prices!) I believe the only enhancement to the "fan experience" is the new signage throughout, and that is quite nice. I am also very happy that Todd M is back on the hockey beat.
The new players we saw this weekend live up the the hype. Maggie S is going to be a special player. As for goaltending, Chloe and Quinn each made quality saves when needed in each game. And wow, Casey O'Brien is sure good at faceoffs!

Another fan experience enhancement is bacon on the cheeseburger for more money LOL AND they put your pretzel in a paper sleeve for more money lol. They went back to the nachos being in the plastic bag. I always thought you got less in the bag than loose. I noticed the different popcorn containers. They held the cost of the bottled water at $4.99. I spent $55 on 2 burgers, 2 pretzels and 2 waters. The burger patty is a very good size, I'll give them credit for that.

I have not tried the brat yet......

A little disappointed in the attendance Friday, but HS football is still going on and it was Lindenwood after all. Saturday was worse, but the FB team was playing at the same time albeit on the road and it was still Lindenwood.

I can see why Halverson got moved up, she was sneaky good Friday. Gorbatenko is very strong and crafty, reminds me of Curl or Roque or even Edwards.
Quite shocked to see both back-ups get a 3rd period, usually MJ does not do things like that. I did not like how on the Lindenwood goal how the D just kept backing up instead of closing time and space, she had support. It was a nice shot from inside the faceoff circle, but it never should have got to that point.

I did appreciate that Lindenwood actually played hockey the last 5 periods. I'm not sure what they were doing in the first first period. I think the coach waited way too long to call the time-out. Clearly they needed a pause to start to breathe. All 3 of their coaches are not so experienced at the D1 level. I would have loved to see who the candidates were when they hired this coach.

That's the problem with scheduling Lindenwood every season; the casual fans start to know the caliber of opponent to expect. It isn't easy to find a high-quality OOC opponent these days. One of the "starts with C" schools from the ECAC is about the best bet. SLU never sinks too low. Both Yale and Q can be very good, but not every year. I hope a couple of HEA teams become dependable contenders, and a CHA team or two makes strides.

They do this to make sure the Wisco players can pad their stats. There is no other logical reason as the games are not good for either team.
