They do this to make sure the Wisco players can pad their stats. There is no other logical reason as the games are not good for either team.
I assume that Lindenwood does it because they get paid a good amount to come and be part of sellout crowds at LaBahn. I know that is why early non-conference 'cupcake' football teams go to play at Ohio State and Michigan, etc, when they know they're going to get killed. And two or three years ago, Wisconsin volleyball was having trouble filling out their non-conference schedule, ended up playing Dayton twice in one weekend, and the coach joked that the contract for them to come to Madison might have been the biggest guarantee in NCAA volleyball history.
