Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2021-2022

Not really thinking about much of anything this morning, thise question popped into my head:

What's Kyleigh Hanzlik doing this year?

Not sure where Hanzlik is, however I did see that former Badger Jesse DeVito is now playing for Boston University. Christina Vote who was committed to UW before switching also plays for the Terriers

Great to see Jesse land on her feet. It will be interesting to see how much she plays.

So....Woz and Picard are pre-season picks for wwcha Fr of the year. They will get plenty of playing time to have an impact and a have full season, something that Web and O'B were denied with the short season. Web and O'B were just coming on when the season ended last year.

UW is the preseason #1 USA hockey poll. I think that makes sense though they are missing Curl, Eden and Harvey. Woz and Picard are a bit unknown so they right now are not in the same level as Eden and Curl, but well regarded. I have a lot of confidence is Nealy stepping into being a top 4 D to till the Buchbinder opening and they are set it goal.

The biggest challenge may be staying humble and hungry. Watching The Pack last weekend was a reminder that the past doesn't mean anything to the game at hand.

Related to women's sports--Yesterday my husband and I went to the first game of the Badger women's fall softball season. The concessions were not open for this double-header that started at noon. We couldn't stay for the second game (needed food!) and still cannot find out how the women fared in the second game. I've checked facebook twitter, the official web page, the UW sports pages--nothing. Really? These are D-1 Badger athletes and deserve at least a modicum of PR support.
Related to women's hockey--Judging from facebook, quite a few of us will be at the Lindenwood opening series. Won't it be great to see our Badgers in person? These early-season games are always interesting as we watch the lines develop. Makenna Webster is from St. Louis, so I imagine she'll have a contingent there, and there's a Badger fan group down there that often shows up. We may have more red than black/gold in the stands.

Has anyone gotten their tickets yet? I understand they're on the road to start, but it feels like the emails should have gone out by now.

Just curious what do your tickets cost? Are they all the same price or different depending where the seats are?
Our games are still free so no complaints here!

Season ticket is $65 adult, $40 "Youth" (under 18) and Senior (55 and up). Single games are $7 and $5. All 'general admission'; no assigned or reserved seats.

The only variations to that are NCAA playoff games - they cost more and are assigned seating - and the less-than-annual "Fill The Bowl" games played in the Kohl Center. Those are charity fund-raiser games with $1 tickets and assigned seating.

Softball....My dad is a big UW softball fan. I follow them on the tweeder and feed him info. He's still has a flip phone.

I kinda kicked the idea of heading down there this weekend, but I still have bad memories of the last game I saw down there. Plus with C19, I don't want to over-expose myself.

So Watts will they do with the lines? Keep Web/Schneider/O'B and SS/Pettet/Wattage together? Too top heavy. Does Posick fit in with GS/Wheeler/Woz/Picard speed-wise? Are Picard/Woz automatically 4th liners due to the fact that Wheeler, Posick and GS have at least been practicing for years with top flight players?

I propose run Picard game 1 and Woz game 2 with Pettet and Wattage, then have the other share with GS on line 3 the other game.

Web/Schneider/O'B
Picard-Woz/Pettet/Wattage
GS-Picard-Woz/SS/Wheeler
Posick

Is it Friday yet? Let's go RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A source from practice has posted these teams wearing the same colored jerseys, so it's just a bit of info...

Team 1 Picard, SS, Pettet, GS, Schneider, Helgeson, Bowlby, Kotlowski
Team 2 Posick, Web, OB, Wheeler, Woz, Toft, Edwards, Nealy, LaMantia
No contact jersey: Wattage (I AM FREAKING OUT!) If she can't go UW won't need her for the first 3 weeks anyway. Perhaps just a safeguard to ensure the MVP of the universe stays healthy.

Marianne Picard has good experience at center; couldn't find any information beyond "forward" for Sarah Wozniewicz. My notes from last year show that Casey O'Brien initially centered the second line (with Webster and Curl); Drake had the third; Wheeler had the fourth. Watching the lines develop is so much fun! I don't know if we'll know much more after this weekend because the team hasn't had much time to practice together.

Tickets have arrived. Fire up the laser printer.

For all Ohio State sports that take tickets we switched to paperless this year because someone thinks paper tickets are Covid speaders. Just take the statement for what it is without a rebuttal to start a Covid debate please!

Season ticket holders have the choice of completely paperless, or emailed pdfs that can be 'print at home'. Then when you get to the gate, you either pull up the QR code on your phone, or get out the printed pdf with bar code, and the scanner scans it and beeps "OK". You don't hand either the phone or the paper to the person we used to call the "ticket taker". So no hand-to-hand transfer of any kind.

However...

"friends and family" tickets are regular old hard paper tickets (I guess because the University doesn't know or doesn't want the bother of trying to track who the team member is going to pass them to?); 'recruits' and family also get hard tickets (the area where they sit is quite near my season VB seat, as are many friend and family ticket users); and if you go to the ticket office and buy a "day of game" ticket, you get hard paper.

I liked the hard University issued tickets. I like to keep the stubs of particularly memorable games.

Tickets for season ticket holders used to be full four-color print with nicr graphics and photos of the athletes, etc. Yes, I have a number here in my desk drawer.

I'm afraid those days are gone...
