Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Free ream of paper for everyone on Gurt if they do. Don't waste any though. Every sheet cost Gurty a brain cell.

Good one, That was really funny and a biting rip. You got me!

I'm guessing this is another dig at my (apparent) hometown of beautiful Mosinee, WI and my job sweeping floors in the paper mill?

You're really, I mean REALLY good at this internet forum stuff.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Great article on Ryan Little in the State Journal today.

Should be a nice boost to the PK and the overall attitude of the team. Ryan is the kind of player I want on my team, he doesn't fill the stat sheet, but he does the little things that helps a team succeed.

Said he plans to be back next season too, w/ all the forward talent, hopefully Eaves can assemble just a line of guy who go out and create mayhem for the opposing team, while the other three lines fill the net. Like Grotting-Dolan-Mitchell used to do. Though when the Bomhber and Hobey Baker played together on the 1st line in 2010, they did accomplish both net filling and mayhem.

Yeah, I almost said something last time he mentioned you were from Mosinee. I'm pretty much a lurker here, and was wondering how he got us confused? If that is what happened?

Who knows. Who cares.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Is there any compilation of data that would show how many division 1 players leave early each year for the pros? I know it's significantly higher than it was back in the '70s and '80s, but I have no idea if it's continuously on an upward trend or if it spikes and subsides. I don't think I show as much forgiveness to the staff (all staffs) for losing players early as perhaps I should.

this would be a great project to get in on, researching the numbers that is.

just off the top of my head M. Johnson, S. Tuttle, Chelios, CUJO, G. Suter, S. Mellanby, D. Tanabe, D. Heatley, B. Driver, prior to 2003, I'm sure there's a hell of a lot more

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Anybody think the Badgers can come out of Mankato with a sweep this weekend. Have to hope and pray.

Eaves had a funny comment on the radio this ma about how the fans at Kato are quite vocal, then he added that the booze takes it to a whole new level. I think UW should start serving booze at the hockey games like the old days for 2 reasons. 1) get the fans to loosen up a bit and get loud, 2) more money for the UW. Seems like a no brainer to me, and I don't booze it up.

UW's history at kato sucks, but I don't think history in college sports means crap. They boys have to come out hard and fast tonight. Keep those feet moving, hammer them and don't cave into the chirping of the fans.

I just don't think you guys get enough credit for the work you do ;)

Didn't see a series thread with MSUM, do you guys know who'll be in net tonight?

Local paper hinted at Joel Rumpel starting. I have no idea who is starting for the land cows, nor do I care, just hoping they are a giant sieve.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Do you guys not know until the game starts?

The weekly preview article listed Rumpel, and usually that is accurate, but if Eaves rolled out Peterson, I for one wouldn't be surprised. Unless someone else has confirmation, 100% either way.

Possibly another outdoor game next season.

Must say playing a prime weekend series to a Thursday/Saturday(Chicago) would be seen as a negative to some season ticket holders. I really like playing an outdoor game every 3-4 years, but if it's our home conference game would prefer to see the game stay in the State (Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay)

I'm there for sure if it's a go. I'm not sure why we have to forfeit the home game though. Why not Minny? The WCHA can't possibly have next year's schedule set already.

I wasn't able to see/hear the game last night. I like the box score, how did the team look?

I don't believe it was on TV here. I listened to it on the radio while working on the basement.

Seems like we carried the play, but it was against the 12th place team, so...

I'm not sure what he's talking about in regards to Mosinee anyway. I've been there a number of times and I don't ever remember smelling the mill. Rapids on the other hand... Good God how do those people stand it!?!

Even if I did work in a mill sweeping floors in Wisconsin Rapids (since that mill actually stinks), I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be ashamed by it.

Also, since when is having industry that supports jobs something to rip on?

Dubber is the clown of these boards (since Varsity Wisconsin left) and he talks of getting people back and retribution, but his rips aren't even to the level of sophomoric. He's just not funny.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Gurt stopped by our thread, so I thought i'd return the favor. Which, I admit, is a childish act of retribution. Sorry, I'll stop.

Yes, me "stopping by" the Sioux/Rodent game thread is the ONLY thing that could bring you to our thread.

You probably have more posts in this thread than I do.

Keep trying to get "retribution" though with quips that make no sense. Next you should accuse me of living in Reedsburg and working at the butter factory. Yeah, that would be hilarious!

And no, you won't stop. You've proven that you can't stop.
