Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

I like the top 2 pairings at forward but for the life of me is Jason Clark really unable to elevate his practice to get up on the top 3 lines?

Perhaps his role is to play Bearson or Gorowsky in this year's production. :(

You mean not being able to live up to expectations from when recruited? Maybe, but you never know what the season will hold.

Remember that Clark is coming off two major hip surgeries. I'm sure Eaves is just easing him in. I see him most likely being flipped with Pappe soon.

I sure hope so.

Random thoughts.....

PP 1st unit....safe to say 1st Star, Barnes, Mersch, Hobey and McCabe?
PP 2nd unit...Lee, LaBate, Paape, Frankie and Faust?

PK, Little, Little, Dahl, Meuer, Hobey, McCabe, Frankie, Rammer

Navin is going to be very interesting to watch, coming off and injury and WI HS hockey right into the fire. I hope he's THAT good.

Is .500 a realistic goal for the year? Reality is setting in, there's not much experience.

C Smith and Gardiner made the big gig right out of camp. Awesome. On the backside, it makes last year even more dissapointing knowing UW had 2 NHL ready guys and the team really didn't do a whole lot.

If I were putting together the PP I would run a similar system as last year with the first unit. Schultz up top, McCabe slides into Gardiners spot on the backside D spot, Zengerle in the corner again, Mersch takes Murray's spot in front and Barnes is on the side boards.

My second unit would have Ramage and Simonelli on the points, with a combo of Ryan Little out front, Lee on the side wall, and a combination of Labate/Navin in a scoring position.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Listening to the Wisconsin Hockey Hour with Brian Posick and he just mentioned that McCabe is on the #1 PP unit.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

What I'm hearing is McCabe sounds like a stud.

Also are we going to start a season thread.

No. It's been beaten to death. Just keep rolling the Wisconsin hockey thread until it gets to 1,000 posts and we start another one. No season, off-season, etc threads necessary.

Navin has that kind of talent? Cool. I know he's got talent, but he's just straight out of WI HS, I just don't know what to expect. In my mind, I'm all scitzo about this season. One minute I think UW will finish 8th, the next minute 5th or 6th.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

The game was supposed to be aired live on FSWisconsin here in Milwaukee, but with Game 5 of the NLDS for the Brewers, apparently FSWisconsin is doing a post-game show despite the fact that they're not airing the Brewers game.

So now they'll be showing the hockey game on tape delay after their postgame is over. The guide hasn't changed, so I've just set the DVR from 7-midnight.

Kind of excited I get to come home from Miller Park and watch Badger hockey, no matter what happens in the baseball game.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

That's always been one of the side benefits of the fact that we end up getting stuck with so many tape delayed games instead of having them broadcast live.

just exactly how long is this post-game bs going to be? I mean if they win they could sit there for an hour or more right? they really don't have a sunset on when they need to stop interviewing these guys and talking incessantly about the game.

uw hockey>brewers in my book.

Sorry, but UW hockey vs. NMU in October does not even come close to a Game 5 of a NLDS.

I realize that this is a Badger Hockey Forum and that many here are very focused on that one sport/team, but c'mon man!

I'm just thankful that the baseball game is at 4:07 and hoping that the Crew is up by 10 or more so I can leave home and not have to listen to a tight nail-biter on the drive to the KC.

but that's why I said "in MY book". whatever anyone else thinks is fine.

I am at all times exponentially more interested in hockey than baseball. I'd watch the world juniors if they were happening now over a world series game of white sox and brewers (teams I follow)
