Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

I was just teasing, but come on. You know exactly what I meant. Are you going to deny the fact that a kid growing up playing hockey in Minnesota has better odds of playing D1 hockey than a kid growing up playing hockey in Wisconsin? It's a numbers game. About 2.5x as many kids play hockey in MN than in WI.

The good players anywhere get identified and developed. Geography isn't the limitation that it used to be.

Meh...it's the dog days of summer we need to spice it up around here.

Word. I'm bored out of my skull here at work.

This same argument comes round about 3 or 4 times a year.

So far, you guys haven't seen the error of your ways...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Who's we?

Are you a coach? Do you have a kid that you raised to be a great player?

No? Then you are a hanger-on fanboy only trying to take pride in something that you really had nothing at all to do with.

It's one thing to root for your team and be happy when they win. It's another thing entirely to somehow associate the simple fact that you live in a state with being responsible for what that state produces.

Next you'll probably brag about your lakes or the fish in them.

-Yawn-

No, we'll just continue to take pride in our hockey culture, history, and tradition. Something your state and program will never be able to match. And that's the only reason it's no big deal to you, and deep down you know that ;)

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

Hah! We've been infested by Gopher trolls!

1929 & 1940? You should get together with Cubs fans who think that 1908 should count for something.

As far as pride on ice goes, if you didn't breed them or coach them, then you had nothing to do with it other than living in the same state surrounded by completely arbitrary borders. But take credit though, if it makes you feel better. We're all impressed.

And Dubbs should add Current Bat-**** Crazy Minnesotans Running For President - 1

Be proud of all your peeps now...
IF we're going to start talking about championships that don't count...we can start with the 1983 Wisconsin Badgers since they were using an ineligible player...but hey, who pays attention to details.

It's hard just getting out of bed each day knowing that...

Our program has already exceeded yours. Not sure how you could argue otherwise, although I'm sure you'll try.

Wisconsin is not a hockey state. We'll never have the infrastructure that Minnesota has. I'm quite comfortable with that. But keep telling me that I'm not.

Don't you have another thread or ten to be whining and crying in?

Stating facts in whining and crying now huh? I haven't come in here to ***** at Badger nation about the fracturing of western hockey. I really don't care to either. Plenty of other threads to talk about that. I just find it funny that you think a gopher fan should ignore "Championships" that his school actually earned while ignoring the fact that Wisconsin cheated to get one of theirs.

You're program "exceeded" ours? Sorry, but in no way, shape, or form.

So, the guy who realizes Wisconsin isn't a hockey state (I agree) and probably never will be (also agree) is ok with that, but wants to tell me which of my program's HOCKEY championships do and do not count, and what our HOCKEY fanbase should and should not be proud of. On a HOCKEY board.

Makes sense to me.

The regular season game threads should be extra fun this year.

Badger hockey fans are a novelty, nothing more. Just laugh at them when they chant "Sieve" after empty net goals like the rest of us do. Good times :D

Did the goalie stop the puck? No, therefore they are a SIEVE. And, if the goalie has been pulled for an extra attacker, it means they let goals in, therefore they are a SIEVE.

Please, stop. We both know 70% of your fanbase doesn't know the meaning of the term or why they are chanting it.

yes! and to think some of you rat fans thought the rivalry was diminishing.

eff your rat colors and your 5 titles. bucky is looking in the rearview mirror and standing on the gas this season to put more distance between UW and Urats

Minnesota: where great players go to play on sh*tty teams.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XVIII - Belief in a Better Tomorrow

A Minnesota team just won the national championship, or doesn't that one count for some reason either? Sconnie logic, got to love it.

You left 2010 out of your signature, or doesn't that one count for some reason?

But you're right--players do not go to UMD to play on sh*tty hockey teams.

Oh, so you were just talking about the Gophers. You see, you said "Minnesota". Unlike "Wisconsin", there are numerous D1 schools that play within our borders. You got to be clear big guy.

Now, you're classifying our Gopher squads as "sh*tty". What does that make your program? Irrelevant? Totally agree!
