I apologize. I was trying to get a history lesson on that game. I've heard a few bits and pieces, but never got the whole story. Thanks.

Accepted. I was just giving you a hard time. It's nice to see younger folks try and learn about UW's history. That game sticks in my mind for personal reasons. We were having some family problems at the same time and UW hockey having that great run over those 2 weeks got my mind off the situation. So when all the positivity of the great run blew up, it really hurt.

Maybe the next history lesson should be a positive one on the 1990 team, my personal all time favorite team. Of course I have a story about that one too, but we'll save it for later.

I was only 10 years old at the time, so I dont remember it; but it looks like it was a great game for Bucky.

Was a great game for Bucky, but a snoozer after the first period. My group was in a bar(coz it wasn't on regular TV) in LaCrosse where I was living and I don't remember watching intently after about midway through the second as we had already started to celebrate our title.

Magical season no doubt.

That video is hilarious and the mullets are sweet. About a third of those guys are youth coaches in the area and have kids right around my son's age. Mostly West Madison Polar Caps but a couple of Capitals and Southwest also.

Funny to see them 20 years ago when I'm so used to who they are now. Also funny that I never would have dreamed 20 years ago watching that I'd be knowing all of those guys and coaching with some of them down the road.

Life is a circle...

Thanks for bringing that back...awesome! As "G" mentioned many of those guys are coaching in the area and others still live here, working in the area. What a great group...Oz hasn't changed a bit. Maybe his nose was a little straighter. :D

Maine had about 16,000 (or whatever the BC holds) fans that game. I was at that game, almost as exciting as if the Badgers were there, almost.
I despised LSSU after the 92 debacle, which I drove out to see. I left Madison on Friday around noon, met up with my brother in Albany Saturday afternoon, slept a couple hours, went to the pep rally in the hotel, marched down the street with the band playing and a chitload of people following. (it must have taken Albany months to remove all the Badger stickers from light poles, buses and anything else the fans could reach. Just to be disappointed. :(

They cheer for the Badgers in college hockey now, if that helps, and it's not like there's a WI pro team for us to feel conflicted about so we're all for the Hawks. We'll just not talk about football or baseball.

BTW, another update from Grandma- Hawks win in OT on a Sharp goal; he gets the first star of the game, but Adam is 2nd star.

Go Hawks and welcome back Adam. Missed the game but Comcast is replaying the game at 1:00 so I can see his big shift.

I have a DVD of that game now.

suffice to say the refs ****ed both teams pretty hard by making ticky-tack calls that hadn't been made during the season for the most part. most glaring though is Wisconsin having to fight through 5 5-3 penalty kills IIRC.

how many 5-3 situations do you see in one game normally? not more than once a game usually, and I'm guessing it averages less than that. but 5 in one game? and it's an NCAA TITLE GAME???

and really, what was most irksome was the 10-minute call on Doug McDonald...the first penalty called on him was a gross fabrication..or that ref was drunk. then mcdonald mouths off for getting hosed and gets 10....just really JV reffing in that game start to finish.

having said that, UW had a chance, they were one **** poor decision by 1-2 players from taking the lead 4-3 in the third not long before LSSU scored their 4th. for one example, Andrew Schier shoots off the pass and UW is up 4-3 and it's a MUCH different game. Instead he catches the puck effs with it then shoots when the goaltender is in position....ugh.
